I WAS WONDERING IF GENITAL WARTS CAN APPEAR ON YOUR THIGHS ?

9/3/2004

!

People have said it could be Molluscum Contagiosum, iv looked up every single picture, disease, or HPV and nothing looks like what I have. Maybe I''ll explain a little better

+ its white small pinpoint bumps
+ they don't itch nor hurt
+ they don't stick out, there under the skin

But all the pictures have them appear as sticking out.

I don't know how I could have gotten a STD, iv had these little bumps since 7th grade, and I wasn't sexually active until 11Th. So if anyone has an answer please tell me

I have a question. I have small, flesh colored bumps on my penis. I''ve never had sex with an infected person, as I always suggest we both get tested for stds and things like herpes/warts. They don't show any signs of herpes like itching, pain, or bursting or scabbing over. Anyway, i'm really concerned, but don't currently have the time or money to get them checked by a docter. I'm pretty sure they're harmless, but would like a second opinion. They are only on the shaft, mostly at the root of hair, but extending up. There are none on the head at all. Thanx

i have had a bump on my vagina like fluid inside but not big and it dont pop is that ingrown hair

The furthest I''ve gone is: frequent blowjob's and fingering another girl's vagina. No sexual intercourse. A week ago one small white/red pimple like bump appeared on the middle of my penis. Based upon my sexual encouters is it physically possible (or extremely rare) to get HPV or genital warts from this scenario?? I am a virgin and most of the stuff I have read about these diseases say they come from sexual intercourse. So i'm a little confused here.. thanks

(From question: What are the symptoms? Answered by: Rebekah)

Genital warts don''t always look like the pictures you might find of them on the web. They start out very small, and may look something like skin tags or bumps. Then, they increase in size. But if you're seeing something that wasn't there before, and it's fleshcolored and bumpy, then it's a good idea to get checked out.

They look like tiny little raised brown spots.

What may be the cause of frequent urination,an ordorless discharge and a heat like feeling in the vigina?

Don''t let the pictures that you see frighten you. They are often pictures of people who allowed the virus to get out of control, for a number of years, and more than likely didn't see a doctor until symptoms were horrendous. Genital warts start out as small flesh-colored bumps. Some never grow very much at all, but if you don't take care of yourself (i.e. eating leafy-green vegetables, taking a vitamin e supplement, and getting regular excerise and taking a multiple vitamin - like Centrum) then they can continue to grow (generally, SLOWLY). The pictures are scary! But that's not the general reality. It's more shock and awe than anything else. : ) The absolute worst cases photographed, it seems.

Most times genetal warts start off small and fleshy but grow to rather awful looking things which you cant miss. most men get confused with warts and small harmless bumps on their skin called papules. But if your really concerned, get them checked out

I got it from repeated unprotected sex with an infected partner, after their warts had disapeared (about two months). My warts didnt appear for about four months, and were so small she didnt believe me. thay were just little bumps tha were infected hair folicles. Then came the "landing strip" A double row of scale or flap like skin growths that appeared in the area where the buttock begins it curve inward just below the tail bone, about one inch by one eighth of an inch. I didnt think it was genital warts until I treated it and it grew, taking on a more wart like appearance. So here is possibly one strain, infecting both genital and pseudogenital area, with totally different appearances.

Can someone help me? Im 16 years old, male and I have little white, redish bumps around the bottom of my penis. It doesnt really itch or hurt. I have never been sexually active or ive never kissed anyone or anything. I do eat pretty unhearlthy. I am not willing to go get them checked out because it would be something i am so ashamed of and too embarresed and i cant tell my parents. On some bumps it looks like the pubic hair is growing out of it

Do i have genetal warts or something else? or is it just nothing to worry about? and perhaps just where my pubic hairs are growing out?

8/1/2005

!

It looked like just a small skin tag appearing growth, which I thought was from knicking the skin just below the vaginal opening while shaving the area, OR from friction during sex. I pulled it off and it was like a tiny hard circular piece of skin, and the area bled a little bit. Then it grew back after a week or two, just the same small bumpy tags. The first Dr I went to see said it just looked like a small cyst and was nothing to worry about, but the best person to see is a family doctor and have them refer you to a gynecologist. When my family Dr saw it she diagnosed me. The wart was not itchy until today which is like 3 weeks after I first noticed anything. I hope that the gyn appointment is soon because I dont want them to spread at ALL, and the itchiness makes me paranoidly think thats whats happening.

It is absolutely NOTHING as scary looking as the pictures you see online. Having this shocker will teach you to take things day by day - None of you are just a label or a diagnosis. Your mind might fearfully jump to the conclusion that you are a slut, or being punished for having sex, etc. That is what the mind does, it is its nature. Give your mind time to sort through the new information and you will build the ability to handle all aspects of this and a new positive self identity and confidence. You may even find that the focus of your relationships becomes more about heart, and you are able to slow down and find a partner you appreciate more.

Society puts a negative doomsday spin on things out of fear. The hardest part is when you havent told even one person, you might feel sad and depressed and like the world is spinning out of control. Its okay to feel that way. People you tell usually have some sort of animalistic reaction FIRST - they are angry, fearful, they want to blame you, shame you. Then later they might come around or not. If they are all holier than thou as though it is all your fault, then this is a good reality check for them. They made the choice to have sex, they need to take responsibility for what can happen.

I was thinking today about those trees.. the ones that get that warty looking disease on their leaves, and the leaves krinkle up. In the order of nature on this planet, this virus is just as beneign as that. Naturally little viruses will actively seek out any place to survive.. just like our bodies are full of bacteria that actually help us. HPV is more of a scientific phenomenon than a moral commentary.

Seek out the compassion and understanding that you deserve in this matter, many many other people have already found peace with it.

i just want to let ALL of you know exactly how dangerous it is, the way you are living your lives. I waited until i was married, my wedding night before i had sex. my husband had been previously married and he found out his wife was cheating on him, with multiple people. we didnt find out until after we got married that he had HPV (genital warts). about 2 weeks after he had his warts removed, i started to develop a little cluster. we were broke at the time and i also knew that lots of peoples bodies can fight off HPV on their own so i waited about 3 months before i went to the doctor. by this time, the little cluster had developed into one large wart, about a cm in diameter. he gave me an acid treatment and told me to come back if it didnt go away. i ended up going back 5 more times for acid treatments before we decided to just cut it off. when we got the lab reports back, it said i had carcinoma in situ, or preinvasive cancer of the vulva as well as HPV. from the time i got infected with hpv until the time it was diagnosed as devloping into carcinoma in situ of the vulva was only 8 months. i ended up having to go thru two surgeries (so far) to remove it. i had a 3 inch long by 1 inch wide section removed from my right labia (or lip) and also the same size section removed from my left labia. i also had to have my perineum (the little flap of skin below the vagina, between the vagina and the anus) removed. also i had to have a spot right next to my clitoris removed. i go back in a few days and may have to have my clitoris completely removed as well as some more of my vagina. and all because of HPV. i urge you all to think a little more about your actions. if you have HPV, dont have sex with someone without telling them. you could cause someone to get cancer like i did and suffer for the rest of their lives.

I was recently examining my penis because I have been paranoid. Well, last night I noticed there was a area right below the head but above the foreskin area that has become a little raisied. When you look at it, it is just a little raised area but when you pull it tight it becomes kind of whitish. Also, it is more like a line that is going almost from one side to the other and is raised. Could this be genital warts? I''m gonna call a doctor and get tested soon but I just wanna know everything to be prepared. Also, A few weeks ago I found something on my testicles (on the bottoms of the sack) that looked kind of like a wart. It was kind of long..maybe 3 cm or so and skinny. I pulled it off and it didn't come back. The next day I found another one and then after that i couldn't find it or any other anymore. I cant find pictures of warts on the actual testicle area. Anyone got any info or ideas? thnx

They start out small, and they may have a white head. They can be anywhere around the genital area, including the anus. If you do not get them treated, they can actually grow to the size of walnuts and then you have to get them surgically removed.

I havent been tested yet, but a friend of mine who knows the guy I was with told me I had it now because she does too. I didnt believe her until I started getting little skin tag looking bumps growing in clusters on the area between my vagina and anus. At first I thought it was just an ingrown hair from shaving, but they started growing other places. I''m gonna go get tested as soon as my insurance kicks in, but I feel so embarasses and nasty. Ive only been w/ 4 people and I just dont think this is fair. =(

I HAVE A BUMP ON MY THIGH IS IT A GENITAL WART

2/13/2006

!

Genital Warts are small bumps clumped together, commonly compared to a califlower. They tend to be many small warts (or bumps) that are very contageous. Sharing towels with someone who has HPV can even be transmitted, that is how serious it is. There are may forms of HPV (over 40 various kinds). Some can lead to pre-cancerous or cancerous cells which is why people need ot be checked out. If you have any question about if you have HPV, please receive a physical. If you have abnormal cells they will do a more in depth examination by a gynocologist.

You have Pearly Penile Palpules. They are common in men, and harmless, non-contegious. I assume that they are around the rim of the glans, and roughly in straight lines? They are perfectly normal.

I''ve just found this site which is great - I've been living with HPV for 3 years, and really have not come to terms with it at all yet. This is having a lot of people in the same boat as me which makes me feel "normal" again. I've noticed some of you are saying that you know what strain of HPV you have....how do you find that out? I'd heard there were tests available for that in the States, but not yet in Canada.... do you know what it is and how they do it? I'm not even sure yet if I want to know if I have a carcinogenic strain or not - my mother and both grandmother's all had it too and all ended up having full hysterectemies by the time they were 35..... can you help?

To the person who said they think the have molluscum contagiosum, you probably just have fondyce spots. They are common and just the way your skin naturally goes. They aren''t a disease and they most certainly are not genital warts. Google fordyce spots, and you will feel 100% better.

To the person who said that a woman can only get HPV if her infected partner is NOT wearing a condom, you are wrong. Genital warts are extremely contagious and you CAN and most likely will get them even if you do use a condom and are having sex with an individual who carries the virus. The virus is usually dormant and present in the skin cells of a person's entire genital area, including the anus. Men can get it from women if their testicles contact her genitals or vaginal fluids during sex, women can get them by contacting the man's testicles or any surrounding skin on the genitals that is not covered.

To the woman who developed cancer who believes that her husband gave her HPV:

How long were you married before this happened? The level of cellular mutuation that needs to go on for cancer to occur is pretty complex. It generally takes years for any kind of cellular change to progress to cancer (which is why skin cancer is diagnosed most usually in people in their 40''s who have liftime exposure to sun and bad burns as kids which starts the mutating process). Additionally, the cellular changes that cause cervical cancer don't usually cause the kind of bump that is associated with the non-carcinogenic types of the virus.

Did your doc actually do a biopsy and find HPV present in the cells that were removed? There are other things that can cause cancer and this may have been coincidence.

I only bring it up because it seems so odd to go from comlpetely normal cells to cancer in 8 months. It seems likely to go from in-situ (in place) to cancer in that time but that would presuppose you had it prior to the eight monts and the cellular chnages had been ocurring for quite some time. I appreciate your anger and frustration but we need to be careful about what we say here. An honest discussion about consequences is certainly useful but fear is not.

You can have HPV without actually having warts. HPV is the single biggest cause of cervical cancer, and the four main strains of HPV that have been proven to cause cervical cancer are all types that do not cause warts. This is why you should make sure to get routine pap smears, because that is the only way a doctor can know whether or not you have precancerous cells.

Next point, condoms do not prevent transmission of genital warts or HPV. Genital warts can stay in your system for years, although the typical incubation period is only a few weeks. And they can grow quickly, so you should definitely see a doctor immediately if you suspect that you have genital warts. Don''t try to treat them yourself with over the counter meds like Compound W, it will only make them worse.

Finally, no you do not have to actually be having intercourse to spread HPV. All it takes is contact between an infected person's genitals and a noninfected person's body. You can get genital warts in your mouth and throat. The bottom line is to know who you're having sex with really well before you start having sex. I think that's really the only way to protect yourself.

A week ago, I decided to have an annual pap. I attempt to go every 6 month''s to make sure everything's alright. I have been married once, and found myself in a few other relationship's which I thought to be serious. During my last relationship, when we decided to get serious, we began having sex. However, when first approching him, I noticed skin colored bump's on his penis which he said he had for a long time, and wasn't sure what they were. He then told me they were from an accident, and haven't got to go to the doctor to get them removed. Being nieve, and unsure, we lived together for almost a year. Just yesterday when I received my Pap test's, the test results came up abnormal due to HPV. You can imagine my reaction when I was told the new's. I've always been the type of individual to take safety precation's when having a serious relationship, and having sex. At the moment, I'm feeling rather alone, but at the same time I see that I'm not as I read down this site. If anyone has further information about HPV, it would be apprecaited.
And, if anyone out there need's someone to contact to talk to, I'm usually free at Athena_Nyteshade@yahoo.com. You can speak to me freely about your feel's on the subject. I'm also on Yahoo Messenger if you'd like to speak to me there.
Take care, and God Bless.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth

I contracted HPV about a year ago I believe. I am almost certain that my current boyfriend gave it to me although I started showing genital warts maybe a month before he did. Mine was a bumpy patch in the opening of my vagina and eventually became a little painful, I treated it with Aldara cream and they went away in 3 weeks. Now they are starting to return in the same place, but I am also having other symptoms that weren''t present the first time. The general area that the warts are in is starting to burn and numb a little, I am also suddenly experiencing intense migraines, nausea and rapid weight loss. I am not sure if these are early signs of cervical cancer, but I know that I am at high risk because of HPV. I would appreciate it is anyone could give me a little more insight to this problem. I did make an appointment with my family doctor, but she is so busy that it's in 3 weeks time. I'm really scared and can't go on for 3 weeks worrying myself sick.

I started dating this man about a year ago. He had been married before, and dated a few other women. I had only been with one man before him, and we were both virgins at the time that we started dating. I believe that I got HPV from the second man that I had sex with. I noticed a cauliflower-like lump in between my outer and inner labia, but I didn''t think it was anything. I was in denial. I then started to get warts around the opening of my vagina. I got married to the man who I believe gave it to me. I went to the doctor and she diagnosed me with HPV. I got it from my husband, and he never even showed any signs of having it at all. I feel so ashamed of myself for some reason. I feel alone. My husband is very supportive, but I am now scared to have sex with him, and I am really scared to have oral sex with him. I don't want to get warts in my mouth. Please help me, if you have any advice at all I would appreciate it.

hello. I am only 13 years of age but I know what you have I think. I think you have genital herpes. I did a report on them today and it said to be that the first symptoms are small red bloches, bumps, and blisters. Then they form into red watery blisters.
What you are having if you have genital herpes is called an outbreak they occur up to five times a year and if painful now, the pain will lessen each year!

I was a businessman oversea in Asia in the 80s and 90s. I had two young girl friends from Thailand and we went at it everyday. It was the best time of my life. I unfortunately contracted both Herpes simplex 2 and HPV. I haven’t had Herpes only 3 times in 10 years because I am very healthy for 53. The HPV in my case was the type that looked like mini cauliflower patterns and itched. Commonly known in the 50s as the French tickler. I went to a surgeon the first time and had them all removed by Laser. My penis looked like it had been in a forest Fire. I was depressed, but miraculously it did heal. I was the next year working in Australia and my girlfriend noticed a small bump. I went to the specialist and he found 3 again, very small flat like warts. He electrically treated them and removed them. That hurt a little. It is true the HPV that turns into warts can go away. I have had no warts now for 8 years and the Genital Warts does not even show any STD including the Herpes. I ate and consumed massive amounts of fruits and vegetables, Antioxidants, jogged everyday, and stayed away from stress. I can assure you no your partner, better yet both get tested. Take it from me, you will survive, but it will put the breaks on your bed hopping faster then you can say HPV. Immune system enhancement and Surgery is what I recommend. It takes 2 or 3 surgeries to get rid of them. They say several years. Mine took 4 years to get clean from HPV. Men there’s a price to pay with God, I finally have come to the conclusion when you’re promiscuous…..

Kind Regards
Jeff

I think the only way to guarentee that you dont get HPV is if you''re a virgin when you get married and you marry a virgin and you never have sex when anyone else. 75% of the population has some form of HPV. It wont always show up on tests, most are just carriers. You can have it for years, have 1 outbreak and then it can be dormant for another 10 years before you have another outbreak. Thankfully they are saying now that they have proof that it's possible for it to just go away even though before they said that you would always have it and that there is no cure.

HPV = Human Papilloma Virus
It is the virus that causes genital warts, much like how HIV causes AIDS, only with out the imminent fatality. (Well, eventually we all die) There is a lot of misinformation and confusion around this virus because even the medical community isn''t sure about a lot of things. For example, the HP virus can stay dormant in the carrier for months, even years. About 1 in 3 people in North America are infected with HPV. There are many different strains, some that make you high risk for cancer. IF YOU THINK YOU HAVE HPV/GENITAL WARTS OR HERPES PLEASE GO TO A DOCTOR! In some rare cases, people can become infected even when condoms are used becasue HPV is passed through skin to skin contact. Some people with HPV have NO SYMPTOMS AT ALL. These strains of HPV are generally more high risk. Genital warts are raised, red or flesh coloured bumps on or around the genital area. They shouldn't hurt, that could be herpes or razor burn. There are a lot of treatments, creams etc that claim to get rid of HPV. WHEN THE WARTS ARE REMOVED THE VIRUS IS STILL IN YOUR SYSTEM! REMOVING YOUR GENITAL WARTS DOES NOT CURE THE VIRUS. Please go see a doctor, this forum is for support, and I have yet to see a doctor answer any of these questions. I myself am just another opinionated goof that thinks I'm well informed. Yes, doctors are disagreeing on many points about HPV, but there advice is still invaluable.

No gental warts only happens on your genital area. If you scratch the genital area and then scratch a diffrent part of your body than for sure it will spread throuh out your body

I just found out I hav HPV, I have no signs but for the last few months I have had a bad odor coming from my Vagina. I tried douching and using over the counter medicine for yeast infections, that only helped for a few weeks. The odor continued to return.I decided to get a pap smear and it came back positive. Now I have to go back and get another test done.My boyfriend had no signs but was always having hip and lower back pain too. He has an appointment to see the doctor this week too.

The human papillomavirus (HPV) causes warts, including genital warts, and may cause cancerous changes in the cervix. HPV is spread by direct contact.

There are more than 100 known types of HPV.

Some HPV types cause genital warts. In women, certain types of HPV increase the risk of cervical cancer. Sometimes the only sign that a woman is infected with HPV is an abnormal Pap test result.
Other types of HPV cause common, plantar, filiform or flat warts, and some genital warts. These types of warts are not cancerous.
There is no known cure for HPV. Most warts go away without treatment within 2 years however medications and treatments are available to help warts disappear more quickly. Genital warts remains in the body with or without treatment for visible warts, so warts may come back.

That''s from webmd.com .... don't listen to anyone's personal advice on here.. take it from the doctor.

OMG! I nearly just lost my lunch whilst reading about the woman who developed cancer. I''m waiting for my biopsy as I type this.

I've had tiny flesh colored bumps by my inner labia for YEARS - they go up each side. I've become so obsessed with them that I actually put Apple Cider Vinegar on them the other day and nearly burned the labia right off me - I can say that they have diminished about 50% - however my vagina opening (and from what I can see inside) seems to have become really white looking... could that be because the rest of my skin is so irritated? I sure hope so!

I've been examined by several doctors over the years and have even had 2 colposcopies - everyone always told me I was fine... but recently, I was told that I looked like I had warts. I'm terrified... especially after reading about that woman who has basically lost her vagina.

I got these wart like things on the head of my penis near 7-8th grade. I had no idea what was up. I never started to be sexual until 10th grade. But shockingly around 12th grade (now) I have noticed a decrease in size of the warts. They only appeared on the head and no where else. (Anyone I have been with has not told me about any symptoms. I am a Virgin too... Proud to be one for safety measures >.>) I read that HPV can appear on anyone at any given time. But I could have read wrong...

Can it be spread orally? Does this happen naturally? Any idea if it is warts?

Most people who have a genital HPV infection do not know they are infected. The virus lives in the skin or mucous membranes and usually causes no symptoms. Some people get visible genital warts, or have pre-cancerous changes in the cervix, vulva, anus, or penis. Very rarely, HPV infection results in anal or genital cancers.

Genital warts usually appear as soft, moist, pink, or flesh-colored swellings, usually in the genital area. They can be raised or flat, single or multiple, small or large, and sometimes cauliflower shaped. They can appear on the vulva, in or around the vagina or anus, on the cervix, and on the penis, scrotum, groin, or thigh. After sexual contact with an infected person, warts may appear within weeks or months, or not at all.

Genital warts are diagnosed by visual inspection. Visible genital warts can be removed by medications the patient applies, or by treatments performed by a health care provider. Some individuals choose to forego treatment to see if the warts will disappear on their own. No treatment regimen for genital warts is better than another, and no one treatment regimen is ideal for all cases.

JUST TO MAKE THIS SHORT AS POSSIBLE TRY DERM LECTURES AGAIN. GOOGLE IT! THERE ARE 4 DIFFERENT TYPES 1) CAULIFLOWER ACUMINATUM TYPES USUALLY FOUND IN FLESHY SKIN OF LABIA OR MEATAL OF MAN''S PENIS THESE ARE POINTED ONES. THEY ARE LOW RISK HPV USUALLY BUT CAN GET PRETTY BIG. 2) PAPULAR - DOME SHAPED, SMOOTH ON TOP, NO ROUGH OR FINGER LIKE PROTRUSION, SKIN COLORED, SMALL USUALLY. FOUND ON FULLY KERATINIZED SKIN LIKE WHERE HAIR IS IN PUBLIC AREAS INCLUDING LABIA MAJORA OR PENIS SHAFT OF MEN BUT CAN BE ON SCROTUM OR GROIN TOO AREA. LOOK LIKE SMALL SKIN COLORED MOLES OR DARKER MOLES. BARELY LOOK LIKE ANYTHING. ASSOCIATED WITH HIGH RISK HPV LIKE 16 BUT ARE CONSIDERED MORE RARE, BUT I THINK THESE GET BY DOCTORS ALL THE TIME AS SOAP BUMPS OR A "NORMAL CHANGE" OR THEY SAY IT'S A CHANGE DUE TO TRAUMA LIKE SHAVING CUT ETC. 3) FLAT USUALLY ON CERVICS AND NOT VISIBLE TO NAKE EYE CAUSE THEY ARE SUB CLINICAL DUH, BUT CAN ALSO BE ON EITHER KERATINIZED SKIN LIKE PUBIC AREA OR NON KERATINZED SKIN LIKE INSIDE ON LABIA. DIFFICULT TO DETECT BY DOCTORS UNLESS THEY ACETOWHITEN FOR WHAT THAT IS WORTH AND IT'S ASSOCIATED WITH HIGH RISK TYPES OF HPV BUT CAN BE LOW 4) KERATOTIC WARTS WHICH ARE HAVE A THINK HORNY TYPE LAYER LOW RISK ASSOCIATED USUALLY. PAPS MAY NOT MEAN STD FREE BECAUSE EXERNAL GW DO NOT SHOW UP IN PAP TEST ONLY CERVICAL CHANGES! AND CONDOMS DO NOT STOP HPV CAUSE IT IS A SKIN DISORDER THAT LIVES IN THE SKIN! IT DOES NOT LIVE IN SEMEN OR Genital Warts. NO BLOOD TEST FOR HPV BECAUSE OF THIS! SO DUH!! CAN'T BELIEVE THE DONKEY WHO POSTED TO USE CONDOMS TO STOP HPV. DON'T WORRY HE OR SHE WILL BE IN THE 75% TO 90% SOON TOO IF NOT ALREADY. WE CAN ONLY HOPE HE OR SHE CONTINUES TO USE CONDOMS AND HE JOINS OUR OF UNFOTUNATE GANG OF PEOPLE WHO EXPRESS IT. ON A BRIGHTER SIDE CONDOMS DO STOP ALMOST EVERYTHING ELSE BUT HERPES ESPECIALLY HIV! =) AND LAST THING NONOXYNOL 9 WAS JUST FOUND TO AID IN THE TRANSMISSION OF HPV CAUSE IT CAUSES BREAKS IN THE SKIN SO JUST USE CONDOM START TO FINISH WITHOUT THIS STUFF I GUESS. SEE CDC WEBSITE THEY JUST CHANGED THEIR OLD POSITION OF NONOXYNOL 9 IS GOOD LAST WEEK.

It is really hard for women to distinguish the warts from other skin things, especially if they are inside. There are a lot of things that can resemble a wart... like remnants of the hymen or just mucuous-lining or sebaceous skin glands. My warts were raised circles, not high at all, and were whiter than the normal red skin in that area. They were in a patch together. They were right by my hymen (vaginal entrance) and they looked like they were growing outwards. They were tiny, but thankfully I got them taken off before they grew much more.

It''s not curable because it's a virus. No viruses are curable. For example, everyone has the flu virus inside of them, it just stays inactive most of the time. So if you get HPV, the virus will be in you forever, I guess just your state of health will determine how active or inactive it may be.
And my question, I just, just learned I have HPV, when I asked to have my records from my old DR. They neglected to ever tell me that I had it! So I have been reading and I'm not clear on a few things, but mostly I want to know......There is high risk and low risk HPV. I know they say low risk causes warts, can you have warts at all with high risk HPV?

For those who have genital warts, don''t believe all of the info you find on the internet. Even medical sites have not been d with recent studies that have proved that HPV does NOT stay with you for the rest of your life. in 70-90% of people, the body clears the infection within a year.

it can be white or red, it may not looks like an important thing to you.. first of all if you have something which developing itself on your genital area and you don''t know it before, you have to go to a hospital to be sure what it is. but don't worry a lot about it, because a lot of people have them, you're not alone :) on the other hand this doesen't mean that you can leave them alone by theirselves. don't afraid, don't search images and comments on the internet about it. just go to a doctor as soon as possible and listen professionals' advices..

HPV may look similar to warts you may tend to get on the rest of the body. When starting out, may look more like flesh colored "skin tags". Treatment doesn''t guarantee the end of the disease. The Center for Disease Control also doesn't have factual documentation on whether or not the warts/disease can spread via anything other than sexual contact. Some have noted that it may be possible in spreading via towels, razors, and possibly even toilet seats.
If you have an open cut or pore and the disease comes in contact with that area, you may contract it.

Ok, folks, it seems there are a few people (especially the non-sexually active) confusing warts with another common viral infection called Molluscum Contagiosum. MC is similar in nature to warts, and looks similar in the early stages, but the primary differences are 1)once an MC gets big enough (2 mm+) you can actually pop it and you''ll find a small, hard white ball inside and 2) they go away on their own usually within a few months, but could be longer. I've had a these a couple times and they DO go away.

MC's are usually found in children just about anywhere on the body and in adults in the groin, hands and/or feet. they're spread by direct contact, just like a wart but unlike a wart, your body eventually develops an anibody and it goes away. technically if you have them on your genitals they're considered at STD, but they're harmless.

Treatment is just like treating a wart or, unlike treating a wart, you can just wait and it'll go away on its own.

Of course its always best to have a doctor look at it just to be sure.

Here's a couple of good websites on it w/ pics:

AFTER YEARS OF DEALING WITH THIS I CAN HONESTLY SAY IT LOOKS VERY NORMAL. GYNO''S AND NP'S WILL SAY IT IS A SOAP BUMP ETC. AFTER NOTICING SOMETHING SMALL ON MY PUBIC AREA WHERE MY HAIR IS ABOVE MY LABIA I WENT TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT CLINICS LIKE PP AND AN NP COVERED BY MY INSURANCE AND THEY ALL SAID IT WAS A NORMAL SKIN CHANGE. THE NP'S SAID THAT FOR IT TO BE A WART IT HAD TO BE "FINGER LIKE" AND ROUGHER. THAT IS COMPLETELY WRONG ESPECIALLY SINCE TONS OF ARTICLES DO CLARIFY THERE ARE AT LEAST THREE DIFFERENT KINDS OF GW/HPV'S IF NOT FOUR. HPV/GW CAN BE VERY SMALL, VERY SMOOTH ON TOP, MAYBE EVEN SORT OF SHINY ON TOP, AND SKIN COLORED. ARTICLES JUST SAY THEY ARE MORE RARE WHICH I THINK IS CRAP PROBABLY JUST LESS NOTICED AND THEY ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE MORE DANGEROUS HIGHER RISK KINDS OF HPV TOO UNLIKE THE BIGGER NOTICEABLE WARTS WHICH ARE "MORE COMMON." THEY USED TO THINK THE HIGHER RISK HPV CAUSED NO VISIBLE WARTS EVER A FEW YEARS BACK JUST SUB CLINICAL ONES. WRONG! THEY CAUSE THE PAPULAR DOME ONES WHEN AND IF IT DOES CAUSE EXTERNAL GW. THEY FEEL LIKE SOFT, SKIN COLORED MOLE AND LOOK LIKE IT TOO. BARELY VISIBLE UNLESS YOU SPREAD OUT THE SKIN. YOU'LL KNOW IT'S A WART CAUSE IT'S ON TOP OF THE SKIN EVEN IF JUST VERY, VERY SLIGHTLY. DOES NOT SPREAD OUT LIKE THE NORMAL BUMPS LIKE FORDYCE SPOTS ETC. SKIN OF GW IS BARELY THICKER THAN OTHER SKIN AROUND IT. DEFINITELY SMALLER THAN THE LETTERS IN THIS POST. VINEGAR AT HOME AND IN THE CLINIC DOES NOT WORK TO TURN IT WHITE SOMETIMES EITHER. IT DID NOT WORK WITH ME. PROBABLY ONLY WORKS MOST OF THE TIME, BUT LOTS OF PEOPLE ARE PROBABLY UNDERDIAGNOSED AND TOLD IT IS NOTHING AND SOME PEOPLE ARE PROBABLY INCORRECTLY DIAGNOSED. LOTS OF THINGS CAN TURN WHITE AND DOCS AND ARTICLES SAY THIS. GO TO THE DOC HOPEFULLY A GYNO AND DERMATOLOGIST TO FOLLOW UP IF GYNO SAYS IT'S NOTING. BE INFORMED BECAUSE THIS WAS NOT TO POPULAR UNTIL ABOUT 12 YEARS AGO. NOT REALLY FOCUSED ON IN MED SCHOOL EITHER CAUSE IT'S USUALLY NOT DANGEROUS AND 75% TO 90% OF SEXUALLY ACTIVE PEOPLE HAVE IT SO DOCTORS KIND OF WOULD HAVE THEIR HANDS FULL FOR NOTHING SINCE YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM IS USUALLY OKAY TO KICK OR SUPRESS IT BEFORE YOU NOTICE ANYTHING. MY ADVICE IS GUYS SHOULD GO TO DERMATOLOGIST CAUSE A FAMILY DOC OR UROLOGIST WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO TELL. THEY JUST SAY IT'S NOTHING IF IT DOESN'T BOTHER THE GUY AND THEY NEVER WANT TO DO A BIOPSY EVEN THOUGH THEY PROBABLY SHOULD FOR WIFE'S OR GF'S SAKE. PEOPLE WHO DO NOT GROOM THEMSELVES OR GO TO THE GYNO SHOULD BE PRETTY HAPPY CAUSE THEY WILL PROBABLY NEVER NOTICE. THERE ARE ALSO GOOD FILMS TO SEE ON A SITE CALLED DERM LECTURES. YOU CAN PROBABLY GOOGLE IT. THEY SHOW THE THREE DIFFRENT KINDS OF GW'S 1)ACUMINATUM & CAULIFLOWER, 2) DOME SHAPED & SMOOTH ETC., 3) FLAT MAYBE SOME NP'S AND DOCTORS SHOULD WATCH THIS! IT DOES NOT REALLY LOOK LIKE ANYTHING YOU SEE ON THE WEB PICTURES, BUT I DID FIND SOME GOOD EXAMPLES ON THIS WEBSITE HPVFAQ.COM. THE GOOD PICTURES, ESPECIALLY FOR GUYS, DO NOT COME UP AT FIRST, BUT CLICK ON THINGS THAT ARE MISTAKEN FOR WARTS AND THERE IS A LINK THERE IN THE PEARLY PENILE PAPULE INFO. YOU WILL GET GOOD PICTURES! I HAVE NOT BEEN TO AN ACTUAL GYNO YET BUT THE "EXPERT GYNO NP'S" AT THE NUMEROUS CLINCS I HAVE GONE TO INCLUDING PP AND MY INSURANCE NP SHOULD HAVE BEEN GOOD ENOUGH. BUT THEY WEREN'T SO I PICKED IT OFF WHICH PROBABLY WAS NOT SMART TO SEE UNDERNEATH. IT WAS KINDA HARD TO DO, BUT GLAD I DID. I WAS SURE IT WAS SOMETHING BECAUSE IT WAS NOT THERE BEFORE. SURE ENOUGH ALL KINDS OF DISGUSTING TINY BLACK SPORES UNDERNEATH. LOOKED LIKE TINY BLACK STALKS JUST LIKE A WART YOU PICK OFF ON YOUR HANDS. I THINK THESE ARE THE LOVELY Genital Warts VESSELS IT HAS BEEN FEEDING OFF WHILE EVERYONE KEEPS TELLING ME IT IS NOTHING AND LOOKING AT ME LIKE I AM CRAZY. I AM GOING TO AN ACTUAL GYNO NOW, BUT I DO NOT HAVE GREAT HEALTH INSURANCE SO I HOPE EVERYTHING WORKS OUT FOR ME. IF ANOTHER NP SHOWS UP AT MY APPOINTMENT I WILL SCREAM! I PUT TAPE ON IT IN THE MEAN TIME TO AVOID IT TOUCHING

Genital warts don''t always look like the pictures you might find of them on the web. They start out very small, and may look something like skin tags or bumps. Then, they increase in size. But if you're seeing something that wasn't there before, and it's fleshcolored and bumpy, then it's a good idea to get checked out.

Hey

I have HPV for sure, but I''m not at all worried about it.
It not only causes warts, but also cervical erosions which can turn out to be cancer. But the good thing is if you treat all that your chance of getting cancer is minimal like not even 1%, besides now there's a vaccine for HPV so no worries first vaccine then cure- but actually it doesnt need to be cured. After about 8 months or so your immune system should take care of it. Oh and it usually takes the cancer-which will never develop probably- about 40 years to devlop, so there is nothing to worry about.

Besides, even if a guy gets tested for it the tests are harder to perform on guys so there is a big chance that even if it has it the test won't show.
And condoms don't protect you form getting it.

Also normal warts ( face etc.) are caused by HPV but of a different type- this you can catch by just touching the other person. It all depends on your immune system if you catch it- it's like a cold it just takes more time to get rid of it.
I warts on my face and they disappered by themselves afer I strengthened my immune system. It all just takes time.

I don't plan on testing every guy I touch for HPV cause most of the population has it.

Oh and only about 4 types of HPV (out of about 200) cause cancer so if you have warts you don't have to have THE HPV. :)

Really, nothing to worry about.

I just wanted to tell everyone about my story. I have been with my boyfriend for two and a half years, we have a healthy son together. My boyfriend has been diagnosed with HPV, as he sought treatment because he had a small, raised, skin coloured bump on the shaft of his penis. I have not been tested yet, but am awaiting my appointment. I know that I have it, because I have been having unprotected sex with him for the last few years. I feel dirty and disgusting knowing that I have an STD, but what can I do. I didn''t have sex with someone who had it, my boyfriend gave it to me, without any knowledge of doing so. It's not fair. My boyfriend got HPV from an ex-girlfriend right before he got with me. They used a condom everytime they had sex. Condoms do not protect 100% against warts, as they are caused by skin-skin contact and the condom only covers the shaft of the penis. BE CAREFUL EVERYONE because even if your partner tells you that they are clean, they may not know yet that they have warts because they haven't had an outbreak yet, but can still pass on the virus.

8/26/2006

!

A woman can ONLY genital warts HPV from a man-who has genital warts. A woman would never genital wartsHPV if men used condoms 100% of the time. Most men will not use condoms and women do not insist that they wear them, therefore, women get HPV (aka genital warts). AGAIN, a woman can ONLY contract HPV from a MAN who has HPV (aka genital warts). As long as men continue to refuse to use a condom, women are at risk not only for HPV, but also AIDS, gonorrhoea, herpes, just to name a few. ---The answer to your question-----every person has little bumps here and there. If you had them before you ever had sex, probably not HPV. Have your OB/GYN look at them at your next exam.

for those who said these ppl have herpes.....

listen, they are two different things. HPV and herpes are totally different. With herpes, you get lesions...not warts.

I just wanted to answer some questions that I saw and say some things. I got hpv AND herpes when I was 17 and Genital Wartsd I''m 21 now.I That's one of the things that makes it hard to get over, I have this reminder that comes up just as I'm moving on. Last June I had an abnormal pap and had to have the cells removed. So that answers one persons question, HPV doesn't necessarily mean you'll get cervical cancer, but most cervical cancer comes from HPV so if you have HPV they (my gyn) recommends a pap every 6 months instead of once a year. Also, don't feel embarrassed and nasty, I felt like that too, but your health should come first. When I was first told I had it, it was by a male gyn and I started crying, the idiot actually asked me why i was crying. Finally the answer to the question many people asked, Yes even if you get the wart removed you still are contagious because your body still contains the virus and will for life, unless they come up with some new medicine.
