Question:

Is it in any way deadly?

I am a nurse and the data suggests a link between cervical cancer (even Genital Warts from) and certian strains of HPV. This data is astounding! If you think or know you have HPV I recommend you go to your doctor (or any health care facility) ASAP. Look into a free clinic if you feel the need for extra privacy. Health care providers can provide you with the facts about the virus, how to cope, how to control it, screen for it, and treatments. Go now! Your health is very important.

HPV should not be a deadly virus. You should go to your doctor regularly for pap smears to make sure there are no cancerous cells on your cervix. If those cells are present the doctor can usually take them off the cervix and hopefully they won''t come back. What you need to do is start taking care of yourself. Take Vitamin E daily! Also start taking Centrum. If you smoke, please try and quit.

Yes it can be. I''m 20 years old and have severe dsyplasia of the cervix....while cervical cancer takes a long time to develop, it most certainly can. Hopefully I will be okay, but you never can tell.

No. It can cause Cancers cells however, on both men and women if not watched closely by your doctor.

Yes, it can be deadly. At 18, I lost my virginity and at the same time, got the virus and pregnant. They said I had displasia when they told me I was pregnant. 4 months later, it turned to cancer and I was told if I didn''t get surgeory within 3 months, it would spread throughout my body. They had to wait 2 1/2 months to do the surgeory for me to have my baby by c-section before they could do the surgeory. I almost died

Yes. Certain strains of HPV have been proven to be the cause of cervical cancer. Cervical cancer can be deadly. So, yes.

It depends on the strain you get. For me I got a really bad strain. The dysplais*sp* was pre cancerous and if i didnt go to my docter, i would have gotten cervial cancer within 3-4 years.

if you have oral warts..RRP. It can be deadly if the warts spread to to your lungs. please don''t have oral sex with anyone with anyone with the virus, and let it be the other way around to. don't say no one told you so.

I have been diagnosed with HPV, which caused precancerous lesions on my cervix. I go in for reglular pap smears and exams. And now I am very glad I did. If I had ignored this, the cancer could have spread through my entire body quickly and killed me. No, not all people with HPV get the strain that causes cervical cancer, but it happens. Be safe get checked, and keep up on treatment.

Yes, in a way HPV could be deadly. However, the virus should never lead to Genital Warts because through regular pap exams, colposocpies, and biopies any abnormal cell behavior can be caught before it ever turns into cancer. DYSPLASIA IS NOT CANCER!! It is pre-cancerous, yes, but not cancer. There is a huge difference. Once dysplasia has been found there a many procedure that can be done in order to remove the abnormal cells. Once removed there is small chance the it can come back, but it is a small chance. I would highly recommend ready "What your doctor may not tell you about hpv and abnormal pap smears" by Joel Palefsky. It is a wonderfully informative book and has helped me tremendously.

most definitely, it can be deadly. unfortunately a lady in my support group actually died from vulvar cancer and guess what? about 86% of cases of vulvar cancer are caused by hpv, including mine. I got hpv and 8 months later, when the hpv wasnt going away with several acid treatments, we cut it off and found out it had developed into vulvar cancer. nice huh? i just want all of you to know, so many women only worry about the effect of hpv on their cervix, they dont thik that a visible wart on their labia can cause cancer, but i am living proof that it does.

The only way that this virus can be deadly, is if it classified as "high risk," and you end up getting cancer. There are a few cancers associated with this disease. Cervical is a major one for women, however there is also anal and penis cancer as well. If left untreated, just like any cancer, there is a potential for Genital Warts.

yes it is if you have the tpye that causes cervical cancer. there are two types of it. one that causes cervical cancer and one that causes warts. doctors say that it is better to have the one that causes warts because it can be treated. even if you do not have any symptoms you still should get a pap smear because the type that causes cervical cancer does not have symptoms.

There are over 100 strains of HPV...of the few that are present in the genital area, there are two categories: High Risk and Low Risk. LOW RISK are what causes actual genital WARTS. High Risk strains, most of the time, do not cause warts. However, the high risk strains are connected to cervical cancer. TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR and EDUCATE YOURSELF BY READING all available articles on the internet, in books, magazines, etc. Don''t rely on this website b/c i've found many people's responses to be inaccurate!!

If you are seriously thinking about killing yourself, you have underlying problems other than HPV. You need counseling, and you need to talk to a few doctors to get information regarding HPV. Many, many people with HPV live normal happy lives. And if they dont it is due to other problem areas in their lives. Although when first learning about HPV the experience can be extremely scary, I have no doubts that once you get all the info, and some counseling in the other troubled areas of your life , you too can live with HPV, as normally as anyone who does not have it lives. Please, get help.

OOPS! FORGOT TO ADD THERE ARE OTHER CANCERS CAUSED BY HPV BESIDES CERVICAL AND PENILE. VULVAR, ANAL AND POSSIBLY PROSTATE ETC. ALL KINDS OF SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMAS. THOSE HAVE DIFFERENT STATS BUT VULVAR CANCER HAS A PRETTY HIGH MORTALITY RATE TOO BECAUSE IT TOO GOES UNDECTED WHILE IN THE PROCESS OF BECOMING FULLY MALIGNANT.

DOCTORS, PPO''S AND HMO RFERRAL PROCESS SUCKS FOR THIS REASON. INTUITION ON WHAT DOCTOR WE NEED TO SEE IS THE BEST THING TO BAD HEALTH CARE IS MESSED UP.

TO THE MOM ABOVE DO NOT FEEL BAD PROTECTION WOULD NOT HAVE HELPED AND NO GUARANTEES IT WAS FROM OUTSIDE YOUR MARRIAGE. SOME PEOPLE JUST CANNOT SUPPRESS OR ERADICATE IT. I HATE THAT YOU HAVE HPV. I PRAY FOR YOU.

WOMEN - FOR WOMEN MORE THAN MEN YES, BUT CERVICAL CANCER IS VERY RARE ONLY 9K CASES A YEAR, BUT Genital Warts IS OVER 5K SO ONCE YOU GET IT YOU MAY BE STUCK. ONLY DIE IF YOU DO NOT GO TO THE GYNO OR HAVE A REALLY AGRESSIVE TYPE. MY COUSIN''S FRIEND DIED OF CERVICAL CANCER AT 23, BUT RARELY WENT TO GYNO BEFORE DIAGNOSIS. HER MOM KEPT TELLING HER. VERY SAD.

MEN - PENILE CANCER IS EVEN MORE RARE THAN CERVICAL CANCER 1,280 CASES A YEAR AND 290 DEATHS. BUT SUGGEST MEN GO TO DERMATOLOGIST TO CHECK THE BUMPS OR TO FIND THEM IF NOT VISIBLE ESPECIALLY IF GF OR WIFE HAS HIGH RISK TYPES. MORTALITY RATE SORT OF HIGH TOO PROBABLY DUE TO LACK OF MEDICAL CARE. USUALLY NOT NOTICED TIL TOO LATE. GENERAL PRACTIONERS AND EVEN UROLOGIST CANNOT SPOT IT AND IF THEY DO THEY USUALLY SAY ITS NOTHING.

EITHER WAY 75% TO 90% OF THE US POPULATION ACCORDING TO THE AMERICAN COLPOSCOPY SOCIETY/ORGANIZATION HAVE HPV SO OVERALL MORTALITY IS STILL VERY LOW.

IT IS VERY REAL THOUGH ASK MY COUSIN'S FRIENDS MOM. THAT WAS HER ONLY CHILD.
