I''ve had genital warts for about a year now, and I have had no treatment. Today I noticed that they disappeared. No traces left of them at all. Very strange, I'm still confused.

If you have HPV, there is no cure but if you are healthy (don''t smoke, do not use drugs, don't drink alot) excercise and eat right, it can go away in about 2 years or less if you are young. Warts can go away by themselves in about a month or two but it can vary with different people.

I''ve had genital warts for about a year now. I was on Aldara and it burned my skin. Now I am going to have Laser Surgery to have the warts removed. I am afraid they will never go away.

Although I realize that a website like this, where other people can share their HPV concerns is helpful in someways, it''s also pretty inaccurate. Everyone is bound to have a different experience with the virus, thus their responses will vary. The fact of the matter is that you may/may not have HPV. The only way to find out for sure is to go to a doctor. Worrying about it or pretending like you don't have it only waste time. I also understand the stigma of having to be tested for HPV or other STDs, but it's more than necessary these days. The waiting for the test results also stinks. BUT, if you want to make sure that you're going to be alright and that you don't go around spreading it to other people in your ignorance, then just do it. It is not a bad ordeal. Just take care of yourself. I went to my doctor, was treated, and they've never returned. I go for pap tests every six months to be sure there is no cervical cancer. I realize that this may not be the case for everyone. BUT...please stop reading about these things on the internet for a definite answer. You will panic, you will worry, and it's unnecessary. Believe me, HPV is certainly not the end of the world, if you take the necessary actions for treatment. Don't be ashamed.

Take care now.

hi everyone...

so I got genital warts. from my boyfriend who proposed to me and probably cheated on me...who needs days of our lives, i got the real Genital Warts happening here. anyway, but i first noticed it about a week ago..and since then they have multiplied. went to the doctor, got my first treatment...i promise you all, it was no big deal. i will have about 3 more and then they should be gone (at least for now). but i spent a lot of time last night doing research on this and trying to figure out how to do it myself...it''s not worth it. just go to the doctor. as a woman, many warts are hard to see as well as reach, on your own.

I recently got genital warts from my husband who has had them for a long time. I am pregnant, and when I went to my DR, she said that they may go away on their own, but if not they can be removed. I had them for about three months and then they went away. My husbands also go away, but they can reappear. HPV is the same virus associated with genital herpes which I also have. Neither of these is really that big of a deal if you think of all the people that have it and the treatments to make the virus dormant. The biggest worry is the threat of cervical cancer caused by HPV. I also got that.

Okay, this BS on here about advocating that warts will definitely go away at some point is untrue. I have had warts for 8 years, had the laser, acid, Aldara, all that fun stuff and guess what, they came back and have not budged for years. I''''m 31, so I''m not "old" as far as my immunity being crippled to the point of not being able to fight back. Here''s some facts for those out there and I actually have had HPV.

5/16/2009

I had treatment on a few cos I couldn''t bare the pain but now there all gone even the ones that weren't treated, which is werid but good but the problem is they can come back.

For someone to say the virus lasts forever is untrue... hpv is not like herpes or aids.. it does go away eventually.

Yes, they can go away on their own. However, one home remedy proven for some is apple cider vinegar. Cover the area for as long as you can with it and they go away in a couple of weeks.

I am 21 and have had only 2 partners in my life time, each girlfriends I dated for extended periods of time. I broke up with my ex-gf about 10 months ago, and life was great. Everything came crashing down when i noticed a bump on my penis about a month ago. The doctor told me it was HPV and like many of you, i felt like my life was over. My gf gave it to me, and i belive her when she says she did not know. If you have any symptoms you think could be HPV, get it checked out. Although it is not the end of the world, we all know how we felt when we first got the news, why put someone else in that horrible position? According to a recent survery, 75% of the population will have atleast one outbreak of HPV in their lives. Hopefully that statistic will help those who feel like they have lost it all. Take care

just a correction to some information found hereherpes and hpv are NOT the same virus. They are totally different conditions, caused by separate virus strains (Herpes = HSV1 or HSV2), and HPV/Genital Warts are presentations of the human papillomavirus, of which 20 or so strains present in the genitalia.

Hey I just wanted to say that I have been with my husband for 11 years - I was his first sexual partner but I did have a previous sexual partner. 5 years into our relationship I had my first abnormal pap result, confirmed I had HPV and I had the abnormal cervical cells removed. I''''d never had any symptoms in my life and I know that my husband has always been faithful as have I. I know I must''ve contracted HPV prior to my relationship with him and this indicates to me that HPV can lie dormant for at least 5 years - it had never appeared on a previous pap smear...to add to matters, after I had the abnormal cells removed from my cervix, I got my 1st outbreak of genital warts...I was pregnant, maybe the hormones reduced my body''s immunity (who knows), this leads me to believe that warts can lie dormant in your system for at least 5 years also, either that or I''ve contracted it from a toilet seat :o)For the past 6 years at least once a year I''ll have a small outbreak...which the dr will freeze off...I''ve had enough of it, I''m going to see the dr and ask if there''s anything they can do/treat me with as it seems like my body will take forever to build up an immunity to the virus.

It is not likely that the wart(s) will go away without treatment, it would most likely just get larger. However, in some cases, they do go away without treatment. The best thing for you to do is go to the doctor. Ask your doctor if Aldara (Imiquimod) cream is right for you.

I Have Genital Warts...i was given the cream to treat them at home. But the cream has finished and I wasnt able to get rid of them. Im sooo scared to go to my doctor for treatment. I dont know what to do im going out of my mind silently. :*(
Someone say something to encourage me. My ex has dissapeared so i cant even reach him and let him know what he passed onto me.

There are a variety of treatments with differing success. Some people have sucess with treatments that others do not. Your doctor can help you in trying the options he sees fit.

I doubt the treatment will come with a guarantee that they won''t return. Warts will appear if your immune system isn't strong enough to repress them.

12/23/2002

!

Don''t be afraid of the treatment. My doctor was very refreshingly sympathetic and kind. Find a doctor that you feel comfortable with first. Then, discuss with him everything including your fears and treatment. I had mine removed with a laser and it really wasn't that bad. I had some discomfort afterwards, but then it was done. Just go to the doctor I'm afraid you are going to have to get used to a little loss of your dignity, and have someone look at it.

It is a virus. There is no cure. Once infected the virus will be with you always. Although a strong immune system and healthy lifestyle can keep the virus dormant.

I actually got genital warts from my ex girlfriend. She has no signs at all and I have several bumps on my penis. I went to my doctor and he perscribed me to an Aldara cream and I used that for the 3 week duration. It seems like the warts went away, but once I ran out of the cream they came back. Now I am looking into the laser removal treatment. I''ve heard that they go away after time, but I've had them a little over three months and they show no signs of leaving on their own. So I'm not for sure if they do or not, I would say get the surgery as soon as you have the outbreak, it would be best. Everyone will probably get an STD in their life so it's not the end of the world. See your doctor and resolve it as soon as possible.

Genital warts do not go away on their own. Couple of months ago I got a small bump and thought it was nothing. I thought it would go away on it''s own. After a while it got bigger and bigger. I noticed a couple more tiny bumps and decided to go to the doctor. He told me they are warts. I actually got them removed today. It was a short procedure. The doctors can numb the areas for you if you want. I decided not to numb it since the doctor said it won't hurt. It did hurt a bit but it wasn't too bad. It's something you can get through. If you see anything that you might think is wart, go get it checked out. Because the bigger they get, the more it will hurt when you are getting them removed.

i basically diagnosed myself with hpv because my doc hasn''t given me a straight answer and HPV has never been shown in my pap tests, but about a year ago I had abnormal cells and started getting bumps about 4 months later. i have been in a relationship for over a year and have been faithful and i know they have been too, so i believe i've had the disease dormant in my body for years. i don't know why the doc never said anything but it sucks, and aldera works pretty well it just hurt me really bad so i had to stop and start again...its expensive too so i hope you have insurance! i really thought my life was over when i found my bumps but i realize how common it is now and I have hope that it does go away after about 2 years

I got genital warts. I used aldara every other day for about a week and they went away. but, my doctor also said i had a mild case, so that might have something to do with it.

guys, they don''''t go away on there own. get treated. And another thing. HPV is a wierd virus, and the body can clear it especially young healthy people. Because it''s such a common virus it''s taken the CDC a while but look on there site and they''ll let you know, it''s not for life. So the people on here that say they''ve had outbreaks years apart got re exposed most likely. Get it treated and move on.

5/24/2009

!

My first outbreak of warts was diagnosed a year or two after the girlfriend who likely gave them to me, and went away on their own after a few months. A smaller, briefer flare-up occurred about 13 years later and also went away. So far, three years after that, nothing.

well, I dont know if it was genital warts i had but im sure it was cuz i had little coly flower looking bumps on the body of my penis not the head.i ad 3 in a buch and one kinda big one under the rim. i was embaresed and scared to say anything.about 1 week later i noticed 2 more coming.i was getting worried.being in a money hurting family i knew my parents couldnt afford me to get checked at the moment.about a month i noticed the little ones gone.3 more weeks the big one was gone.they went away by them selves. but im still going to get checked and see if its like a in my Genital Warts or like a sickness.all i know is the warts can go away by them selves.they did for me. but it doesnt mean the diseas or virus or whatever it is is gone and that you cant pass it on still.

YO!! sumbody please help me im really scared.
ive been to the doc about 5 diffrent times now and got tested periodicly for hiv herpes syphils all that Genital Warts and I wus negative for everything thank god. BUT i have a strange lesion on the head of my penis that wont go away. the doc said it could be from ''''ruff sex'' and that it will heal on its own but its been months and its still there. It dont hurt but its darker than the other skin around it and it looks moist. Just recently i noticed alot of tiny bumps on the very very back of my tongue and they dont hurt or nuthing but they''re there. Im really afraid that maybe all these symptoms kan be HPV even tho the doc said the thing on my penis didnt look like it but i kno sumtimes warts look diffrent and i kno you kan get them on ur tongue. Also i havent gave oral to any females so i dont kno how id have them on my tongue, but i did makeout with a female that had a bump on her tongue she klaimed wus a birthmark. So if you have any advice or anything to say please tell me id really appreciate sum input and maybe sum info on warts on the tongue. Thanx and god bless

I got them from a boyfriend who didnt know he had them. He had no outward signs that he carried the virus. They were discusting and embarrassing. I was afraid to go for treatment and eventually (after about a year) they went away and have been gone for about 10 years. No problems since. I had about 10-15 dark colored warts a few on my labia, but mostly around the anus. I could have died and never told a soul, until I met my faithful partner of about 9 years and he has never had a problem. I still regret not going to the doctor, so I would suggest you seek medical help just in case.

Yes it does get treated by its self? Because what I did was pick on them until they are gone..then I wash the area with anti bacterial soap..

Hey, there''''s been some really good info on here so far and I don''t have much to add but I will tell you of my experience with them. I got about five of them when I first got pregnant, I got the Aldara creme, used it once, didn''t like that it took so long so I just picked them off. I had a miscarriage and that is the only warts I have ever had and that was 3 years ago. I also had displasia on my cervix. I don''t know if I still have it but I''ve had a few partners and none of them have ever shown symptoms.

8/15/2009

!

I got warts and mulluscum...the dr. froze them off with the cryo...and prescribed Aldara cream while they heal...my genitals have red open sores and scabs... its been 2 weeks now...I hope this works...

I have had this issue for the past year... they get treated, they go away, they come back... the dr. said if you have a sex partner...you are probably just passing them back and forth to each other... so you are both going to have to abstain and go for treatment....

I read every single post to this question and hope that NO ONE just reads this and does nothing but take this unprofessional advice. Im not saying that any one of these posts are wrong but if you seriously think you have warts you need to go to the doctor, get checked out, and dicuss the what the right thing to do for YOU is. everyone is differant and there are hundreds of strains of hpv. everyone differant in their own way.So why take the chance of them "going away on their own"????

9/17/2009

!

Well I''''ve had the warts for at least 2 years now. I''ve avoided going to the doctor(bad-I know). My boyfriend of over 2 years- has them also. He says I gave them to him, I say he gave them to me. Well he went to jail about 4 months ago, and since he has been gone-they slowly started to diminished and now are non existant. I told him what was going on with my vagina, and asked him if he still had his one wart... He said yes. He read that when women stop having sex, they are likely to disappear. Good news for me, my boyfriend will come home and see my wart-free vagina and know that I didn''t cheat on him while he was locked up. =)))

^^ dream big! ^^

lmao if thats what has to prove to him you didn''''t do anything that relationship is going nowhere real fast because I can tell how you accuse eachother there is no worth within and if he is in and out of jail just get rid of him now. he sounds rather useless.

anyways back on topic my only advice is don''t screw gold digging whores. i learned that the hard way =)

I''''m 15 and I think I have HPV. I''ve had bumps but they never got any bigger or anything like that. Then about 2 weeks later, I realized they were gone. I say "I think" because I haven''t been to my Dr. for it yet. I have an appointment to go next month.
I''m also not sure, because I''m on birth control for the second time. I had an odd incident the first time with bumps appearing on my legs and hands. I don''t recall every checking my private area for them. So, I have no idea of what it could be yet. I was reading up on things to see if they could go away if it was HPV. This site has helped a little but I''m still going in and gettin checked out.

10/19/2009

!

you should just see a doctor and treat them as soon as you can. The longer you try to ignore them the worse it can get and can become un-treatable. If they are small they can just use an acid solution and burn them off, doesn''''t hurt terribly and is quick. Genital warts are really common so don''t be embarrassed and just talk to your doctor, they are there to help not judge.

okay, I do not have even 1 bumb on my vagina or around it, but i do have quite a few tiny pinkish bumbs on my lower thigh, i have had sexual contact with someone who had(has) HPV but it was almost 1 year ago, i also hearde it could be sweat glands and from me shaving, can it be genital warts if its ONLY on my lower thigh and only on one leg?!

Ive had genital warts for about a year and a half n they just kept multiplying...I just recently stopped smoking about 2 months ago n I noticed they got alot smaller, I also started taking vitamin e nd a Genital Warts load of vitamin c every day nd so far it''''s been working..hopefully they''ll go away completely soon!! Smoking defenitly makes them worse!! Since smoking basically lowers your immune system. Apple cider vinegar trick also worked but it hurt n it smelled horrible so I stopped that. Good luck.

Hey guys, I am a 45 yr old woman that has been married for almost 20 yrs. Have 2 healthy, beautiful boys (17 yrs. and 13 yrs.). I did a really dumb thing. I was not happy in my marriage sexually, so I had unprotected sex with two men....One is married with two children and the youngest child of his was not even 1 yr. old. The other was only 32 yrs old, not married, but has a girlfriend. The first 2 times I was with the 2nd younger guy we used protection. After that He assured me he was clean. He had all the signs. We had sex without a condom. About 2 mths later, I noticed little warts on my vaginal area (never, ever had that). Went to Dr. and they did tests and it was HPV. I was devistated. Never told my husband because he is such a great person and I didnt want to hurt him. Anyway, my Dr. acid them off (the ones she could see). Some went away but some stayed and some expanded. This was after 6 weeks of the first treatment. She acid all the other ones just last week and also took Genital Warts for HIV and white, red Genital Warts cells. I havent gotten the results. But just to know I could have gotten HIV really devastates me. I want know the results until Monday (12/14). Please pray for me. I''''ve always been careful until now, only because I was unhappy in marriage. Not worth it... Will let you know with results.....
