Question:
Im pretty sure that I have HPV, I have never had sex before, and the warts are around my anus, how could I have gotten them?
|
You can get warts around your anus without anal sex. Sexual intercourse involves fluid and rubbing that can easily transfer and spread the HPV to various areas that might not have been directly involved.

There are over 100 different types of strains of HPV, ppl that say you can not get it unless u have had sex are wrong!! I developed a wart on the tip of my penis which i had for about a year and a half, i then spread it to my anus where i know have lots of them. My doctor who is at the top of his profession assures me that its a myth that u can only get it from sex. It is still a relatively new disease so it is possible to get it from a wart on ur hand!!!

I think you should talk to your DR because it is possible that you have hemroids which can be inside or outside the anus and it is not always painful to have a bowel movement when the hemroids are outside, so you may be misdiagnosing yourself. Hemroids look very similar to warts. Unfourtanatly I have both.

If you have never had sex, there is always the chance that your mother passed it to you during childbirth. It is unlikely, but for a virgin, it is one of the only logical explanations.
Although, if you can acquire the virus from someone by touching their genitals, and then touching yours, it seems to follow that you could get it from a toilet seat if you use it immediately after an infected person used it (I say immediately because the virus probably wouldn''t survive long outside of the body)

Hold u, When you say "Im pretty sure I have HPV" What do you mean?
Did you go to the doctor and was told you had HPV? because if youre guessing you have HPV just because you see bumps on your genitals or because you seen some pictures that looks alot like yours.
This is what my doctors say dont ever try to diagnosed what you may or may not have by looking at picttures because you are tormenting yourself. Please Believe

Most of the time, you get the virus through vaginal or anal intercourse. However, you can get it by touching the private parts of an infected individual and then touching yourself without washing your hands. You do not get it from toilet seats. And if you haven''t had sexual intercourse, or any kind of sexual activity, it is highly unlikely that you have HPV. Go to your doctor as soon as possible. God Bless.

For all of you that are saying ''It's unlikly you have anal warts if you havent had sex' your wrong. I am a virgin and I was diagnosed yesterday and my doctor said you can get it from toilet seats, hand towels that have touches warts then touched your genital, sitting in a bath of someone that has them, anything. they are VERY contagious so dont take it lightly.

HPV is spread through genital to genital contact. If you have never had any type of sexual contact, it is very unlikely that you have genital warts. It is also highly unlikely that you could have gotten HPV at birth (as a previous poster suggested).

While it is more likely that you could have contracted them because of sexual contact (i.e. touching), it is possible that your mother passed them on to you at birth. Although it is rare, mothers with HPV who have active warts at the time of birth can infect their children. Usually it affects the larynx, but sometimes the child can develop genital warts later in life without ever having sex.
