Question:

I had recently a rather large (single) wart on the shaft on my penis...after reading some information I saw it can go away in 6-12 months or longer but mine has only lasted about 3 weeks (it got large and burst open) I was wondering if it could be anything else..?

If it burst open most likely it''s not a wart. A wart is actually a over growth of skin caused by HPV. I suggest talking to a doctor

Highly unlikely this was an HPV related wart.

Syphylus is a more likely candidate for this type of problem. The papule enlarging then bursting and then going away as well as the duration of the symptoms point to this.

On a bright note if that is the case its easliy detected and cured with a round of antibiotics.

If it burat open, unless you scratched it and it got infected it does not sound like a wart. A wart actually is a over growth of skin caused by the HPV virus. I suggest seeking a doctors help.
