Question:

I gave oral sex about 2 1/2 months ago. About 7 weeks ago I started noticing bumps in my mouth. The bumps are kinda white, but some are red. Most of the bumps are in my throat, on the hangy thing in my throat, and on the wall behind my molar teeth. They dont really look like genital warts to me. But i''m not sure what they are. Any ideas?

Here are all of the pictures I have found on the internet of oral warts and/or oral HPV. I hope they help answer some of your questions. Remember, there are many “normal” bumps in the oral cavity, but paranoia can really take a toll on you if you don’t know what you’re looking at. Just hi-lite one address at a time and copy and paste it into your web address box. If you have any questions or if you would like to email me please do not hesitate. I will help as much as I can, and I will be glad to do it. My email address is eternaldevotion1@aol.com. I look forward to hearing from you.

I think that it is possible to get genital warts in the mouth. I think that they would look similar to the kind you get on your genitals. Do you have a sore throat or swollen glands? I would definately go to the Ear Nose Throat doctor and have them do a biopsy. They put you to sleep and it is kind of expensive but it would be worth it to you for peace of mind. I have had a similar situation and am going in the end of the month to have them all removed- even if it isn''t hpv it will make me feel better about the situation. However, it may be nothing to worry about- they may prescribe you some kind of antibiotic to see if that gets rid of them for you.

Probably nothingthe hangy thing is your uvula, if the ENT thinks they are nothing, he/she is probably correct.

The tonsils are part of your lymphatic system, and over time can become infected. I have had chronic sore throats for years, and swollen tonsils. I am having my tonsils and uvula removed in May as a result. You can get white bumps in your tonsils that are caused by the nornally occuring bacteria in your mouth.

Go see an ENT to get it checked out.

That sounds like sifillyus or warts in the mouth but probal sifillyus. I wish someone would tell the people on this site you have a odd syntom get it looked at.Dont listen to the people that say its nothing its not.Your concerned go 2 a doctor. You don''t want your dentist telling you because he or she can tell your parents or anyone else even a nurse. They don't have a real confidentiality agreement.

the hangy thing is your uvula. I have the exact same thing and have been very concerned. I went to see an ENT and he prescribed me an antibiotic but it did nothing for the bumps. So last week I went to an oral surgeon and he did a biopsy on one of them. I am almost positive they are oral warts but he thinks they are nothing- we''ll find out. Good luck to you. I suggest you go see an ENT or an oral surgeon and have them do a biopsy.

Why on earth would you not have the warts on your penis removed, as well as the ones in your throat cultured? It''s easy enough to ask for a test and know for sure what to do. These warts will continue to grow!

Yes, you can have a wart in your throat next to your uvula. In fact, it may appear that you have two uvulas. I know because I had one clipped out of my throat a couple of weeks ago, it was terrible.

Found this from another site, I get the same.
*********************************

Q: I hope this doesn''t sound too gross, but both my sister and I get white particles in the pockets of our tonsils. She thinks it is food buildup but I think it is the bacteria that the tonsils build up. The stuff is like cauliflower, kind of hard and with a foul odor. She thinks she needs to have her tonsils out. Can you advise us on this? We both have it regularly, but our throats are not really sore.
A: Doesn’t sound gross to me, but it’s probably a pretty gross problem for you and your sister.
These things are called tonsilloliths ("tonsil stones.") You have described them perfectly. They are typically white, or whitish-yellow, irregularly-shaped, foul-smelling, and usually smaller than a pea. The tissue lining the tonsils (oral mucosa) is fairly sensitive, so people with this problem often report that they feel an irritation in the back of their throat and are able to pick these critters out of their tonsils.
Like your skin, oral mucosa sheds continuously. The dead cells become incorporated in your saliva and then you swallow them. Yum! One more anatomical fact that you need to know: the surface of your tonsils is pockmarked with deep pits, appropriately called "crypts" (since dead stuff accumulates in these pits.) Oral mucosa lines the crypts. Under normal circumstances, as this mucosa sheds, the dead cells leave the crypts and are swallowed. In some unlucky people, like you and your sister, the dead cells accumulate and glom together to form hard little balls. All of this dead stuff makes great food for bacteria, and of course your oral cavity is colonized by all kinds of bacteria. Consequently, the tonsilloliths are ripe with bacteria. This accounts for the smell.
The only sure-fire method for ridding yourself of this problem is to have your tonsils removed (tonsillectomy), but there are nonsurgical alternatives which you should certainly pursue before you ask an ENT to take out your tonsils:
– You could try gargling frequently with warm salt water (1 teaspoon of table salt mixed with one pint of water– gargle with about 1/4 cup of this mixture three times per day, after meals.)
– You could also gargle with a mouthwash called Alkalol, which is essentially salt water combined with a variety of natural aromatic extracts some people prefer Alkalol to plain salt water. Most other commercial mouthwashes contain sugar or alcohol, which are pleasant-tasting but are, in the long run, fairly irritating if used frequently.
– There is a doctor in Los Angeles, Murray Grossan, who markets a water-jet device for "hosing down" the tonsils. Relative to gargling, this device provides a more aggressive technique for clearing out those nasty crypts.
– In the hopes of avoiding tonsillectomy, I will often put my patient on a long (3 to 4 week) course of antibiotics in the hope that this will allow the tonsils to "settle down" (become less inflamed.) I must admit that antibiotics are not a very effective cure for this problem.
If I had this problem, I would try all of these things before resorting to a tonsillectomy. You should also discuss your problem with an ENT, since he/she may have other suggestions to help eradicate these nasty critters, and could also give you information on what to expect from a tonsillectomy.

I think the following should help people who want to know if they have HVP or GENITAL WARTS or not.

The ANSWER: THE ONLY SURE WAY TO TELL IS TO GET TESTED! (Do NOT be afraid of going to the doctor.)

Many people have posted questions about little white bumps, wanting to know if they are infected with HPV.

In many cases this is NOT HPV or HERPES or GENITAL WARTS.

There are two naturally ocurring skin conditions that affect between 50%-90% of the population.

1) FIND OUT WHAT YOU HAVE

CLICK ON THIS WEBSITE TO SEE WHICH OF THE TWO NON VIRAL, NATURAL SKIN CONDITIONS YOU HAVE:
http://www.studenthealth.co.uk/advice/advice.asp?adviceID=153

It is most likely one of the two conditions: PPP (PENILE PENILE PAPULES) or FS (FORDYCE''''S SPOTS).

They are both NATURAL, COMMON, NON-TRANSMITTABLE, AND ARE NOT GENITAL WARTS, NOT HPV and NOT HERPES.

2) LEARN ABOUT WHAT YOU HAVE

PENILE PENILE PAPULES

Some conditions (a ring of tiny white bumps near the head of the penis) are called PENILE PENILE PAPULES.

To see what this condition is visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hirsuties_papillaris_genitalis
(there is a picture there for you to compare with your condition)

To read up on PPP go to: http://pearlypenilepapules.net/ or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hirsuties_papillaris_genitalis

FORDYCE''S SPOTS

Some conditions (small skin colored spots or raised bumps that appear on the shaft of the penis or labia) are called
FORDYCE''S SPOTS.

To see what this condition is visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fordyce%27s_spot
(there is a picture there for you to compare with your condition)

To read up on FS go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fordyce%27s_spot

3) GET HELP IF YOU NEED IT

Skin conditions are very common. There is nothing to be ashamed of. For other skin conditions, including STDs
talk to your family. They should be there to help you. If you can not talk to your family or seek help you
might want to try the following site:

http://www.sworn.org/stdhelp.html
http://www.chicagohelp.org/
http://stdhelp.org/

I hope this reply was helpful for the many dozens or hundreds of people that thought they had an STD when in reality
they only had a NATURAL SKIN CONDITION with nothing to worry about. INFO=KNOWLEDGE! Pass it on.

I have been asking this question for 2 YEARS since I had a hard time breathing, had pink spots on my face, and had a change in the look and feel of my lips. Dont really have money for a good dr. most that i have seen though have dismissed my concern. i believe the warts/hpv to be 1) contagious to all parts of body. 2) the same type of wart as i have on my penis 3) responsible for my hoarseness and my "alergies". I have no spots in my mouth but, hpv doesn''t have to cause spots. I would like to confront the people in my office that i believe to be infected, i have actually tried but no one believes. CARYING THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD. Coverup.. we must demand justice.

I have the same problem, I went to a doctor for it, and he actually laughed at me for going in and said STD testing was not nessesary. He said its an extremely minor case of herpes. The same as getting a cold sore on your lips. He also said that after the first week they are no longer contagious. But that was a year ago,I still have them, and they sometimes get sore and make swallowing painful. So I plan on going to another doctor. Its better to be safe than sorry.

this is not a question but its important!!! if your a guy and have a bump you need a biopsy!! its when they cut the bump and sent it to get results!! wemon can get a papsmear to know....and for wemon who dont have the virus they can now take 3 vacines to prevent exposure to the more severe forms of the virus but for men the onlything we have is biopsys cut it and test it!!!

To the dumb person that called you a slut and said quit having oral sex - dear homo/oral/slut/prude, etc person, When I was younger and naive, (by the way I was a virgin until I was 24), I fell in love with a guy that was promiscuious and he gave me, unknowingly, herpes. Doctors have proven that you can contract herpes with out your partner having symptoms. I met and married a man (I told him I had herpes before we became intimate)and after about using condoms for about 3 years, we resorted or rather he did, to getting me to perform oral sex on him. This has now been our choice for our sex life for about 13 years. I say me too because condoms hurt me. I am more concerned about my husband getting satisfied than I am mostly because the anti-depressant I take makes it extremely difficult for to orgasm. Therefore I let him have his choice and it always is oral sex. He says he is afraid of catching herpes. We have had long discussions about this and I am getting too old and too tired to argue. As I do get older though, I do get somewhat repulsed sometimes at the thought of doing it all the time. I also, as of late, have thought of the ramifications of any disease I may be able to catch. I make sure I have brushed and scoped and I always make sure he has bathed or at least cleaned his area thoroughly and he does. So I would like to know if any one here has experienced the same problem.

Not to sound critical, but has anyone heard of having sex with one partner, and that partner being you husband or wife. Some of you sound like animals, having sex with whomever turns you on that night. No wonder SOME of you are having his problem. My question is, do you say to the person you are going to have sex with, "Excuse me, may I look into you vagina and see if you have warts?" Oh that would turn me on!

gonorrhea, a very common sexually transmitted disease (STD). This means that it is a disease that you get by having sex with someone who already has gonorrhea. The disease is caused by the gonococcus bacteria that can multiply and grow in moist, warm areas of the body. In women, gonorrhea can infect the cervix (opening to the uterus, or womb), uterus (womb), and fallopian tubes (tubes that carry eggs from the ovary to the uterus). It can also infect the urethra (urine canal) in men and women, as well as the mouth, throat, and rectum. Gonorrhea can be treated and cured by antibiotics. But, you can get the disease more than once - antibiotics will not protect you from getting gonorrhea again. This STD can cause serious and long lasting health problems in both women and men. And, if you have gonorrhea, you are more likely to become infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, if you are exposed to the virus.

I have to write this because I feel terribly for the young man who has wart on penis and trouble with breathing. I agree that this is being covered up. I am a nurse and I''ve been doing research on HPV human papilloma virus. It has been known in the medical profession for years that HPV can infect anyplace it touches and cause warts including mouth, esophagus (swallowing tube) ,Larynx (voice box), fingers, penis, rear end, all of female genitals including cervix (cervix is inside and is what they do a PAP smear on in your yearly check) CONDOMS DO NOT STOP THIS SEXUALY TRANSMITTED DISEASE!! Tell your friends, almost all the links from here will use the words "condoms MAY help protect against this virus being spresd" but all the research has shown that condoms do not help becsuse HPV is spread skin to skin. They just don't want to say anything negative about the condoms they have been praising for years.
