Question:

I have many small white pimple-like bumps around my vagina and surrounding areas. I am 6 months pregnant and discovered them about 3 months ago. Do you have any idea as to what these may be or what causes them? My OBGYN said that they were not an STD but did not know what they were?

well, apparently HPV symptoms become more likely to show up during pregnancy than other times because of the change of hormone levels, so it could be HPV. it might just be regular bumps that you never noticed before though and are just noticing now that you''re pregnant. see a different doctor and get hi/her opinion.

This was a long time ago when this question was originally posted, but here''''s your answer. What is happening isn''t an STD, those little bumps that surround your vaginal tissues are actually glands. They excrete fluids as lubrication and your body''s natural "anti-bacterial" gel. There are three times in a woman''s life that they pop up so vividly, when she first reaches puberty, when she''s pregnant, and finally when she''s going through menopause. The surge of hormones kicks your body into overdrive as it is susceptible to infection during these particular times. So the bumps, fluid, and sometimes even irritation is simply your body taking care of itself. There''s no reason to be scared. Hope that calms anyone who may be scared.

this is not a question but its important!!! if your a guy and have a bump you need a biopsy!! its when they cut the bump and sent it to get results!! wemon can get a papsmear to know....and for wemon who dont have the virus they can now take 3 vacines to prevent exposure to the more severe forms of the virus but for men the onlything we have is biopsys cut it and test it!!!

I don''t have an answer, but I am 8 1/2 months pregnant and have the same exact thing! The only thing I can think of is that they are caused by irritation due to wearing tight panties or the irritation caused by sweat. Post if you have any updates!

also, I just thought i would say that the only way to test for HPV is through DNA tests and pap smears, but a normal pap smear does not mean that you are HPV free, it just means that you have no abnormal cells on your cervix. the only way to know if you have HPV otherwise is to have actual visual symptoms.

I have the same exact thing you are talking about.
But, I am not pregnant.
I have had these pimple-like bumps for months now.
I had a pap smear in 08'''', and the pap came back with HPV.
I didn''t have these bumps when I had the pap.
Then, maybe 6 months later, I found one of these bumps in the crease of my butt cheek.
I tried popping it, and it just irritated it and left a piece of skin and it was bleeding.
That bump went away, then more started popping up.
I have one big one on my butt.
And the rest are small.
I haven''t talked to a gyno yet, but if and when I do, I''ll let you all know what he/she says.
But, I really think they''re from the HPV or they are skin tags.

I''m 37 weeks pregnant and have the same thing. My doctor didn't know what they were either but all my test came back negative. He said he has seen them before and that they usually go away sometime after birth.

I''m 22 weeks pregnant and I hve had a few bumps in the little crevis below my vagina that are very itchy sometime. i've had them for alittle while but havn't had them looked at. I also have been tested for STDs right before I got pregnant and then they checked again when I was pregnantg and was Neg both times, and have only been with one guy who ahd only been with me so I was wondering what they were too!

I know you said that your doctor said that they werent an STD, but are you sure ur partner doesnt have it....some dr''s make mistakes. well I have like pimple like ones on the inner part of my vagina also, but not like inside, just on the outer part, but inner, kno what i mean. they come once in a while, could be caused my bacteria, do u use a bath srcubber to clean your vagina? that could be the cause, and if not then, dont worry about it, just dont put any soap or anything on them, and they will leave by themselves, but eventually return ocassionaly.

Skin Tags. During my pregnancy last year I was getting red, pimple-like bumps in my inner butt cheek, but closer to my vagina. I tried popping it the first time and nothing. After a few (2-4) days it would no longer be red and irritated, but it would leave behind a little piece of skin. I got a couple in the crease of my leg between the anus and the vagina, but more on the butt cheek not the actual holes. The gyno I see is part of a large practice that makes you see several of the doctors during pregnancy so you become familiar with most incase they are on call to deliver. 3 different visits, 3 different doctors looked at them closely at my request and all three said they were skin tags. All 3 explained to me that these were common with pregnant women for several reasons. Hormoal changes and excess skin among the most common. Delivered my baby and haven''t had another one since.

I''m personally not comfortable with a doctor who can't provide answers. If they can't give you an answer right away I think they should find out for you.

Do you shave down there, could it be ingrown hairs? How about a rash, have you recently swtiched undergarments? Allergy?

Try another doctor?

I acctually was freaking out about this same thing. someone told me before I was pregnant that they got them and their mom told them it is alrite and normal and she had them too. but its akward cause I just wanted to make sure it isn''''t an std. it doesn''t itch or anything and its not an std. its just weird tho. why do we women have to deal with this!!

i would go to a gyno and get it checked out for sure it probly nothing but with being pregnant you need to know for sure.

If you have been tested and they are not an STD then what you more then likely have is just extra bacteria.. Your body is going through changes, and as much as they suck they are perfectly normal, and healthy.
