My boyfriend and I have been in a relationship for over a year, and he just found out he had genital warts. I''ve heard that the incubation period for the wart strain of HPV takes 3-8 months to show up. Does that mean he cheated on me?

no. not always.. I was with my ex for three years broke up in sept last year and just became very stressed out with school and had my first break out with warts this july.. i have only been with him so this means i could have contracted them years ago!!!

could take years to show up. For all you could know yo could have given the hpv virus to him. males have a greater chance than females of developing the genital warts. it might not be a bad idea to check if your past partners have it, eventhough they might lie to you.

No, not necessarily. I was just diagnosed. I''ve been in a monogomous relationship for 3 years and it just popped up. From my research and from the doctor, I learned that the incubation period can certainly be years.

Thats the crazy thing about warts. You never know. I have read on some websites that it can take sometimes years before they show up. Also if someone is healthy they tend not to break out. For instance if you have hpv (warts) and you have the flu sometimes your body cant fight both of them at the same time. So warts appear.

The longest I have heard that the virus lays dormant is 11 years, so most likley he hasn''t cheated on you.

No. It can take longer to show signs. I didn''t have any signs until quite a while after. I think I had one wart (tiny) and I didn't know what it was... but I didn't have noticeable warts until well over a year after infection.

No. I just returned from the doctor who said that the incubation period for HPV can be up to 18 months.
