Question:
Is there a test for males if they don''t have symptoms?
|
It is possible to have a Genital Warts test done, they test for anti-bodies in the blood stream. The virus maybe localized in the skin but it is a virus that the body fights and therefore creates anti-bodies for. The same is true for herpes simplex one and two. Also consult a doctor as many of the people listing information on this form misunderstand the information available with regards to HPV.

nobody administers this test. the only way you can find out is if you infect somebody :( that really stinks.

Yes there is. They put a form of light vinegar on the shaft if it turns white yes. There is also a form of acid they put on the tip to test. I''m not sure what kind of acid I think acetic...

Yes, I''ve been tested positive to hpv16 through PCR (Polymierase Chain Reaction) analysis in Florence, the test your semen and urine DNA..very likely if there are internal not visible warths the virus Dna will be drained out and the test will be positive.

yes, there are. Bear in mind that all research on hpv (focusing on genital warts) has shown that nothing is certain - so these test might or might not work.
1) if you see nothing, then they can check with a mild acid test. You can actually do this yourself by soaking a cotton ball or other cloth in white vinegar, then holding it on your penis for several minutes. Anything that reacts to it will turn white in color. HOWEVER, I don''t recommend doing this - this test will highlight A LOT of things - even the normal things - and all you might do is make yourself paranoid.
2) DNA test - this is the only real way to test if you have hpv (sans actual warts, but even then they should be tested this way). They take a swab or cut/scGenital Warts a small skin sample and test it in a lab. This is a virus, and the way it works is by altering your DNA (which is really what the wart is). Things to remember about this test - hpv is a spot virus, i.e. just because you have the virus in one 1/4 inch area of skin on your penis, doesn't mean it will be in the next 1/4 inch. So the test might turn up clean if they swab or cut the wrong place. Best to do this one if you actually find a lump or something. Best to do that ANYWAY, b/c that lump could be something much worse - like cancer.
3) Visual inspection. Obviously if you don't have signs, they won't see anything, but I thought this was worth mentioning. Also worth mentioning that even with a few signs, they might misdiagnos.
If the virus exists within your urethra (or the whole you urinate out of), then another test is in order. Another poster mentioned that here.
