Can men be tested for hpv if there are no visible symptoms?

not true about what everybody is saying, this is a test for men to detect if they have hpv. I have been told by my gyn that i have hpv and i had symptoms and my boyfriend doesnt so i told him to get tested, and he has an appointment to be tested so their is a test for that stuff whoever said their isnt if their wasnt a test for men then everyone in the world would basically have hpv and no one would know especially the men

dude theres no test for guys and I think its so crappy cuz i think i might hav hpv and theres no way of knowing...i HATE it but im tryin to find out a test for it and i think i might know one test but im not sure..its called a culture thing and htis thing goes up your penis hole and ya..so im going to find that out this week so just hold up for a while until i find out if you can get tested that way. ill post it on here as soon as i find out.peace out bro

I''ve had the Q-tip swab in the pee hole thing. HPV wasn't one of the things they check for with that. They told me all the things it would catch and they didn't list HPV.
I asked the doc about HPV and it seemed like she pretty much said unless you have symptoms there's not a test. I hope this isn't true b/c I'd feel guilty as hell if later down the road I found out I was passing it on.....

my doc told me that there was no way to find out if a man has it unless he has a break out. My boyfriend swears that he used to get tested every 6 months when he was married and it never showed up. My boyfriend gave it to me, he''s the only man I've been with. You wouldn't believe the way it has made me feel towards sex. Even though condoms may not be 100% helpful to keep this from spreading. The try is worth everything.

you should be using CONDOMS man.. though that might not protect the person entirely anyway. in Quebec... apparently 50% of people have hpv.. eveyrone has it. share the wealth.

My doctor is sending my hubby to an urologist. He said they will be able to test him for it there.

I work in a Clinical Laboratory. I can tell you with absolute certainty that there is NO test for HPV in men. On the other hand, HPV CAN be detected in women via PAP SMEAR provided that awareness is raised to screen for the presence of tiny warts. Unfortunately men have to wait until they have an outbreak. SORRY.

nope- according to the mayo clinic- there is no test for men. thats messed up. Just because were not at risk for cervical cancer doesnt mean there isnt a neccesity for a test.

Men cannont be tested for HPV. My gynecologist has told me that they can only be diagnosed if they have visual signs of the virus. Men can get penile cancer and other cancers from this. It is unfortunate that Men cannot be tested because I got it from a man who always got tested and I dont think that even when they have it they dont know cause it is not popular until recently. Condoms do not protect 100% against STD''s because HPV is transmitted by skin to skin contact so if your exposed skin touches an infected area you are pretty much gonna have it to. Certain types lead to cervical cancer and some lead to genital warts I have had hpv for two years and I do not have any signs other than cervical dysplasia. Please if you do not have HPV GO GET THE VACCINE SAVE YOURSELF! THANK YOU!!

I was told that if a guy soaks a wash cloth in vinegar and holds it on his penis for 45 minutes and little white bumps appear then the man has HPV.
