Question:
Idefinitely have Sebaceous Prominence but it is fairly new to me. I currently only see the bumps at the end of the shaft near the scrotum to about 1/5 of the way towards the head. I was wondering if this is the only place the sebaceous prominence will be or does it always spread to cover the entire penis? The photos available online always show the entire penis covered with bumps, but I have also found that the internet medical sites tend to show the most severe cases only?

Sebaceous Prominence is a harmless skin problem that should not destroy your self confidence. I have had the problem for a long time and have never had a problem with women "freaking out" about it. It is really easy to explain to them, IF they even notice it. However, I do know that it bothers us psychologically. I mean, who wants these things....NOT ME! So, for all you gents who are experiencing what I have dealt with for years, here''s a remedy that i have found works for me. I once had a doctor prescribe Amoxicillin for an upper respritory infection. After taking the Amoxicillin for approximately two weeks, i realized that the bumps on my penis were starting to go away. I asked the doctor about it and was told that Amoxicillin is also used to fight skin disorders and infections. He prescribed some more Amoxicillin for me and today I am almost completely free of the bumps, which at one time almost covered my entire penis shaft and ball sack. Talk to your doctor about it and see if this helps you as well. Good luck guys!

Hey guys. I''m a 19yo male who has sebaceous prominences (SP) and pearly penile papules (PPP) since early teen years. I know how hard it is for all suffers because i have been through exactly the same. I strongly urge everyone to consult a doctor.
SP are harmless white lumps on the shaft of the penis caused by excess oil in the sebaceous glands. They are harmless and can't be transmitted. PPP are generally found on the rim of the head of the penis. The are generally uniformily arranged. These too are harmless.
I have been trying some home remedies and over the counter products to help remove them. Acne creams for the SP seem to help lessen them. I have also heard that toothpaste helps for PPP.
If anyone knows any over the counter products that help, please post the details. And to all suffers, hang in there fellas. It's not the end of the world. In fact SP and PPP can provide extra stimulation for women during intercourse!! Don't put your life on hold just because of a few small bumps.

hey guys dont worry so much. I too have Sebaceous Prominence and as long as I can remember and i even went to the clinic to find out 4 sure.i was deveistated when my girl friend found the bumps giving me head,i didnt know how to explain it to her,so it went on the internet and showed her pictures of it just to satisfy her curiouisty. during sex i asked her if they bothered her and come to find out ive been the only guy that has givin her an orgasim because of them. well since finding out she was psyco(like most girls)I dumped her, since then ive been with various girls and they only seem to notice when the moan my name. Also my ex still wants meback. So you see guys the bumps are a blessing in disguise, just look at some of the sex toys women use and abuse on themselves, lol.Just make sure its Sebaceous Prominence and not an std before haveing sex. Good luck guys i hope this will help some of u get some confidence back!

Wow. You are the first person to post with very similiar symptoms to me. I have little bumpy rough lesions only at the end of the shaft, right before the head. They are very small and seem to be fading away now after about 4 days. They look kinda white and sometimes redish. I have 2 larger patches on the top and one small patch on the bottom. I also had them (only one patch) about 7 months ago but they went away and now they are back so it scared me into making a planned parenthood appointment. Sometimes I think they itch but I can never tell because I''m kind of a hypocondriac. Before I noticed them they didn't itch. I have no other symptoms.... no discharge, no pain, nothing. I don't know exactly what they are but I really hope that I don't have Genital Warts or Genital Herpes.

I have the exact same thing. I too was worried about it until I went to see my doctor about it and she said it was completely normal and to not worry about it.
I was always afraid to do anything with the girls because I didn''t want to spread it. Its fairly common though.

mate, seriously, dont worry about it, so many people have it. It usually gets a bit worse throughout the teenaged period, but then it fades away. Dont worry about girls not liking it. Ive had a girlfriend for a year and a half, and all the times I have been sucked off or ive had sex with her, she hasnt noticed.

I also have sabacious prominence....It makes me nervous to do stuff with girls too...has anyone had a bad experience with it and a girl? please send back.

just tell the girls its hair folickles, lot easier trust me!!!!lol
i am now with my gf of 2 years and she is a very pretty girl and she dont care at all, she says it feels so much more nice without a condom on , but lads wear a condom lol otherwise you will have alot of worries on your mind lol !! might get you down , i asked all my mates if they got it and 36ish out of 48ish have so im guessing its quite common!!
reccomend going to see your GP about it he will prob have something to make them not as visible!
Dont let it get you down !!!! lots of guys have it, some have it quite a bit some dont have it hardly at all mines sorta faded now that im older (im 19 now) i do find putting a bit of tolcun powder on your penis or balls helps , it makes them less visible !!!
I only have another 30 years before i stop having sex anyway lol !! because then il be worrying why the dam thing ent hard lol

I''ve had it since age 14/15 and it scared me Genital Wartsless at the time...but once I found out it was not harmful i was slightly relieved yet still horrified about these things being on my thing! i was also terrified of what girls will think...i've been with my (very pretty) girlfriend for nearly 3 years now and we have a great sex life. she seriously didnt even notice until about a year ago and when she asked me about it i was real nervous but just explained to her what it is and she was fine about it. i know my situation cannot speak for everyone but i just thought i'd let people know that i don't think it really bothers girls that much.
hope that helps...

I have the exact same bumps on my penis and balls. Small white ones, with a hair growing out of each, I can pop some of them and puss will come out, but they come back, I first notice these around 12/13 years old, and about that time we were getting our first sex ed class in school and learning about all the nasty STDs and genital warts is what these suckers sounded like, I thought my life was over, after learning HPV can cause cancer in girls, how could I ever have sex with a girl knowing I could kill her? I am 25 years old today and until last night, I thought I had genital warts. I was too embarrassed to see a doctor, and what would be the use, because the warts come back and there''s no cure for the virus. It is a great relief to know that I am not contagious and won't give girls cancer. Because thinking these were warts, I have been too ashamed to ever do anything with girls, and have missed out on some hotties, I am still a virgin today at 25, which is sad, but now I know I am normal I feel as if I have a new life and will get out into the dating scene. They really should tell the boys in sex ed class that some bumps on the penis and balls are normal, because that ruined my life for years.

ok people it''s pretty simple.
look at the pictures. pictures on this site or in a google search type 'sebaceous prominence' or 'pearly penile pauples'.
if you have the tiny teeny wee bumps in the edge of your penis head then they are PPP (pearly penile pauples) and really nothing to worry about. I have a few, we all do. if you really hate their appearance there is laser surgery.
if you have the larger strange under skin bumps around your shaft and balls, some with hair growing out, some occasionally producing puss, you have sebaceous prominence. again this is not harmful but, to many, unsightly and confidence destroying.
i am 25, i have sebaceous prominence and i hate it more than i can begin to describe. it may well deny me being with the most stunning woman i have ever seen. some1 tell me why i should have to put up with that?
i am not alone in my feelings on the topic and am frankly disgusted at the way we are told to just live with them. they cause extreme distress to many and this warrants some investigation into the removal or calming of them.
doctors and surgeons must understand the issue of self confidence and psychological well being so i want any1 with information about sebaceous prom . treatment to email me and i also want to start a petition of guys who want to see a treatment.
email me with knowledge or just a email a signature to: ppmurray25@hotmail.com

i have the sebaceous prominence too, I just got my Genital Warts sucked last night and she didnt notice. i hope to god that it doesnt spread up to the rest of my penis, if it does im going strait back to my old drug lifestyle, simply because girls will be out of the picture. p.s. most girls dont even notice them in the dark and they usually put their hand on the shaft and suck the head.

|
|
what about the bump around scrotum. It seems nobody mention about that. Is it normal on sebaceous prominence or is this STD?
|
|
|
If Amoxicillin beats Sebaceous Prominence, how are we supposed to get ahold of it? I won''t be able to just walk into a doctor's office and ask for Amoxicillin, it needs to be prescribed.

yeah I have it too, it covers most of the penis. A lot of guys have it but some just have more.

lots of responses above and just thought i''d chime in. I'm in my mid thirties and have had sebaceous prominence type symptoms on my penis since I was about 15. I had terrible acne as a teenager and believe the conditions are very much related. It never caused me a problem with women, none ever seemed to notice or comment about it.
I do agree with several of the posters above in that several girls have told me over the years that my penis 'feels really good' inside them. This wasn't the usual 'oh baby, you're hot' talk, they really seemed to mean it - several saying they hardly ever came from penetrative sex but did with me. I put this down to the small bumps on my penis, though perhaps the fact that I am not circumcized (relatively rare in the USA) also had something to do with it.
One last thing, the bumps fade quite a lot over time and are now (i'm mid 30s) barely noticable. I actually quite miss them!

yeah I have them too. I am 15 and i started to notice them at 14 at the bottom of the shaft bout 1/4 way up. Since then they have spread all the way up to the head. ive heard many different treatments for SP which includes Tolcun Powder, Baby powder, Amoxicillin, acne cream, Talc powder, Clean and clear deep cleaning Astringent, and even toothpaste. All of these are said to reduce the bumps. I have not tried any of them but i plan to and take notes. If i find that some of these are working i will report back.
For new people , keep your head high, your not alone, we will find a treatment or cure one day, and until then try experimenting with the things i said above. oh and by the way girls don''t mind ... ya just gotta explain and their ok with it
