Question:

Has anybody tried using the Compound W Freeze Off? They say it shouldn''t be used to treat genital warts, but after all, isn't it really the same thing a dermatologist would do for you in their office?

I have used Compound W for HPV. I''m a male, and the wart is not near a mucus membrane. I wouldn't try this if you're female and the wart is inside your labia. I used the Compound W gel. It is thicker and a little easier to control.

YES, it worked! You may have to apply it a few times. What worked for me was to apply it, wait a day or two and peal the white residue off. This will kill the surface of the wart tissue, turning it dark. Some of it will come off with the Compound W white residue and some will peel off on its own. I tried applying more Compound W on the remaining wart before it healed up, leaving no "open wound" area. I didn't mind the pain. I just want this crap gone. The problem with this is that if you don't wait for the remaining wart area to heal over first, the Compound W won't stick. So, I waited a few days and re-applied the medication. It worked.

What's nice about the using Compound W is that the remaining wart tissue after the first application is very well defined, turning red compared to the surrounding tissue. This makes it easier to be more precise with subsequent Compound W applications.

Good luck!! This worked for me. I hope that it works for you, too!!

I have used the freeze off and it worked great!!!yes the big q-tip it a bit of a pain in the you know what. but I have now switched to the Dr. Scholls brand and it worked even better! you can get the little ones with the Dr.Scholls freeze off and it is easier to apply and maneuver the bottle for those tough areas.

Yes I do know how to get the little ones...spray a tooth pick or a normal q-tip it works great.

+ The Compound W Freeze Off over-the-counter freezing stuff works
+ I had them for several months, tried aldera which didn''t help at all, had to keep going back to the doctor for the professional freeze off. Aside from being cheaper and much more convenient, the real benefit of the home stuff is you can take lots of time to really, really look for them, and hit them as soon as you find one. Here's what to do:
+ Buy a couple canisters
+ Use an electric razor to shave as much hair off as possible. All the Norelcos have the heavy-duty piece that flips out, you can just use that. Doesn't have to be 100% gone, just get as much as you easily can so you can see. The shaft and around the base is where you get them. Douse with plenty of alcohol immediately afterwards and soak razor to kill any of the HPV that might spread.
+ Next, sit in a chair and take about 30 minutes to very very carefully find all of the warts. Use a flashlight, or better yet for me was a (private) window with sunlight as it was brighter.
+ Follow the instructions in the booklet and stick to the times (saturate tip, hold upside down for I think 15 seconds and apply for I think 45 seconds). I changed the swabs for every like 3rd burning just because it was easier and it kept working fine.
+ The swab tips are a little big, but you also want to get the area around the wart and I'd rather do too much area than miss it.
+ Don't get too carried away and start burning every small bump that's just the bottom of a hair follicle. You'll know them when you see them, they may be small but they are raised and a little shiny or off-colored.
+ After you burn them, apply an anti-biotic ointment immediately and liberally. Get several tubes of the stuff and coat everything, then reapply at least 3 times a day (when you awake, during lunch, when you go to bed). This cut the healing time and scarring dramatically.
+ It will take at least a week for the scabs to form and fall off. Then you will have pink spots for another couple weeks until they fade. Plan on 4 weeks to heal. You can use the equipment before then, but it will be noticeable, certainly in the first 2 weeks.
+ Check yourself at least once per week after your first burning session. Shave again after a couple weeks and keep looking religiously. Chances are that you've either missed one or another few will pop up. You may even have to burn the same one twice although this didn't happen to me.
+ Don't use Aldera afterwards. I did this after a doctor did the burning and a couple of the spots became dark pigmented and took a couple of months for the pigment to go away. I never had that issue without the Aldera.
+ Try very hard to boost your immune system. Take a multivitamin, quit smoking, get plenty of sleep, eat healthy, exercise. Use some sort of lubricant when you spank off, otherwise the rubbing seems to encourage them to return.
+ As to whether you get rid of them, there's a lot of conflicting crap out there. After researching it to Genital Warts my conclusion is that as a guy, if you check yourself religiously and don't find any for a year, then you are no more likely to have it than anyone else. In fact you are probably less likely because you are looking for it whereas other guys have it and never realize it.
+ I think it's more difficult for women because they can't check and treat themselves as easily . I'm convinced that my girlfriend of 12+ months gave them to me. I also am 99% sure she didn't cheat on me, but had a persistent case that she didn't treat aggressively and decided not to tell me because she didn't want to lose me.
+ And by the way, I think LOTS of women have it and don't tell their partners for that reason - I talked to a gynocologist about the new HPV vaccine, she told me the reason they don't give it to women over 25 is because it doesn't work if you've been exposed and like 95% of women over 25 have been exposed. It strikes me as especially amazing that no woma

I am a family physician and while professionally I cannot recommend treating genital warts at home, if you insist on doing it yourself here are some guidelines:

- Never apply a wart remover, of any kind, to warts present within the perianal area (just outside or slightly inside the anus) or for vaginal warts. Also, do not apply to any mucosae area i.e. the tip the penis.

- If you apply vinegar to the wart first, this will cause the warts to become significantly different in color than the surrounding, unaffected tissue thus locating the warts significantly easier. Make sure to thoroughly wash off the vinegar before applying the freezing agent.

- The difference between in-office treatments and at home treatments are that the physician is trained to spot the warts. Moreover, the preion strength, freezing agent is far more potent.

Best of luck!
Dr. B.

yes but not as cold as liquid nitrogen. I''ve found it freezing my warts with Wartner keeps them at bay but most come back eventually. Maybe if I was more vigilant with the freezing it would end but it's kind of a drag with the pain and the healing.

I am CURRENTLY using it to freeze off mine. I AM very VIGILENT when am freezing with the Compound W Freeze Off kit. It seems to sting the same as it did with liquid nitrogen...maybe even worse because I am sure I over did it. I am still healing (has been 4 days). I feel very hopeful that it will work.I think it is the same thing basically as liq N freezing, but in order to keep the money flowing into the medical industry, these simple treatments are ignored! I also put some tea tree oil some of the ones I burned (I burned 4 at once and put tea tree oil on 2 of them) as an EXPERIMENT for ALL OF US TO LEARN FROM. The hippies say the oil is magic...we shall see. I think the freeze off kicks butt and will work after a few treatments. But does anyone know how to PINPOINT the freezing a little better?? It is IMPOSSIBLE TO get the LITTLE ONES with that BIG Q-tip thing on the freeze can!!! PLEASE HELP ME RETROFIT THE APPLICATOR!!!

The Compound W Freeze off (CWFO) WORK WONDERS...
I went to the doctor to treat my gental warts and he gave me two options. A prescribed lotion and to cut them off, I picked none at that time.
I remember a small wart that I had in my finger and that I used CW. I went to a pharmacy and bought CWFO. I had 12 warts. I followed the instructions and apply the product for 20 seconds. It did not hurt, it was more of a sting, nothing you can''''t handle. I applied neosporin right after and kept putting neosporin twice a day everyday for 2 weeks. The warts are no more and it did not even left a scar, looking like new and no other warts have come out, but if one dares to do so it won''t even grow because I will freeze that sucker up. It is awesome and way cheaper that the docs options. I know soon enough the word will spread and they will take CWFO out of the market.

I have used the compound W to freeze off the genital warts. It worked great! It does hurt - not going to kid you on that one. My husband said it hurts more than even having them burned off at the docs which he had done. I was just too embarrassed to go to the doctor to have this done.

I am a woman and my husband did the freezing off for me. I think it is a lot harder for a woman than a man to do this. So if your partner (he is the one who gave it to me - the Genital Warts!) will do it then it will be easier. We also used the can with the large tip, but we used Q-tips == you spray some of the liquid in a small bowl and then dip the Q-tip in the mixture. It will be smoking because it is so cold. We got the combo pack which came with a liquid little bottle and we put that on the warts too a couple days after the burning and they cleared up within a week and a half. They first scabed somewhat and then just fell off. There was some off colored marks (sort of pink and a couple were darker) but they are gone after three weeks.

Woman cannot use this freezing inside the vagina - I only had one on the very beginning of the inside and I put apple cider vinegar on it with a cotton ball then put a big bandaid on it and it was gone in 6 days! Hardest thing was trying to get a bandaid to stay put. This burned somewhat in the beginning too. I guess you have to remember it is acid so it is gonna hurt some. I did this every night before sleeping.

We now will check each other every week. We get the treble light out and really look each other over. Lets hope they stay away, but it is not the end of the world, Geez I think I cried an entire day when I found out I had them. It caused much distress to me.

Also women...you need to be checked out for the HPV virus because it causes cervical cancer and you may have warts inside on your cervix etc...so go to a GYN and don''t be embarrassedmy GYN told me that 5 out of 10 of her patients under 50 have genital warts.

Please if you have warts - don't spread them - think about what you are putting that person through!

Good luck!

I tried using the gel. and it has apparently worked well. There was some pain, but I also completely coated the area including some just regular skin, and i think thats why it burned so badly. However after a few minutes the burning went away. I left it on for a day then peeled it all off. It scabbed up, and after a few days the scabs started to come off on their own. All of the small warts are now gone. I have 2 that were bigger I will have to retreat. But it has worked very well for me.

Hey I have used Castor oil before and it works great! it takes as little as a few days to get rid of the small ones and up to 3-5 weeks on the big ones. you just have to constantly apply about three times a day, guys wear a bandaid ove the big ones, but it dries them up and there is no pain or scars! I have heard that if you do it right they will not come back either! A little lemon oil or tea tree oil in the mix will speed the process up in some cases. I am not an expert, just an ordinary person with a problem tha sucks! Castor Oil is only about $2.00 per bottle, you can get it anywhere-drug stores, grocery, etc. and its safe, its used to rid constipation. This works great for women! Good luck

I tried for the first time a 3 days ago, and like the guy mentioned above, I have 4 large black spots and they haven''''t showed signs of improving. Has this happened to anybody else? This is definitely different from the liquid nitrogen, because the liquid nitrogen blistered. I really like the idea of being able to freeze them off in the comfort of my own home, but I''d like to hear if anybody else has had a similar experience with the big black spots and did it go away?

I donít know if anyone provided a solution to the problem of the Compound W applicators being too large, but it is quite simpleÖ cut one end off of a regular Q-tip and use this instead of the applicators provided in the box! It is much easier to attack the smaller warts without unnecessarily damaging surrounding tissue.

I thank the guy who said to use the gel. IT WORKED IN TWO DAYS! I had two warts there for months and finally decided to do something and they fell (or picked) off within two days when the warts turned black after the gel solidified and covered the warts for about 35 hours. I only applied twice and there with practically no pain, maybe a tiny sting for a second or two, but now we will see how the healing goes.

Yes, I have done this home freezing wart remover kit, and while they kept coming back for awhile, they have gone away completely now. Aldara was a joke, by the way, and quite expensive don''''t waste your money. Also, you MUST BE DILIGENT about re-treating the affected areas as soon as you see, feel, or even suspect that another one is coming. They do eventually go away, never to return, unless you are exposed to the warts again on a sex partner. Also, the immune system WILL eventually eliminate the infection on its own in many cases (unless you also have HIV, which makes the virus more resistant to treatments) but who wants to wait for that? Just be very proactive in checking yourself for new growths, then hit ''em fast and hit ''em hard with any of the home freezing kits available. Be warned, though, that sometimes this treatment does leave small scars, though not on me. I hope this helps someone.

Yes, it worked really well for me. I had a pea-sized wart at the base of my unit removed by my family doctor about 7-8 years ago using liquid nitrogen and a q-tip. The bill was over $100 as I recall between co-payments and deductables. It came back recently and after reading some of the posts on this site about using compound w freeze off I decided to try it. I trimmed away the hair, followed the directions on the can and hit the wart for about 20 seconds. Afterwards I put some anti-bacterial cream on it. In the first 24 hours it swelled up a bit as a blister formed under it (as was described would happen in the directions). It stung a bit, but again not overly so and no different from my earlier experience with the doctor. After about 2 days a scab formed. I continued to use anti-bacteral cream on it every day. About 4-5 days after treatment the scab/wart fell off in the shower and the area was just a bit raw and pink in color. By the 6 day or so I was able to put him to work with no problem. After two weeks the area was mostly healed but I still had a little wart bump left so I decided to hit it one more time with the Compound W Freeze Off(as was again described in the directions). Same healing process and timeline as above. I''''m now two months past and 100% wart free and totally healed with no visable signs. Oh, and total cost ~$15. The main difference for me between my earlier doctor removal experience and my own Compound W Free Off treatment was the extra 2 week healing time. Since I had to hit it a second time to get the entire wart off it extended the healing timeline 2 additional weeks. Other then that, easy, private and inexpensive.

The black spots are a dead top layer of skin. Like severe frost bite. Not a bruise like some say. if you''''re brave enough you can remove the top layer of skin and treat the tender skin that''s under it. Antibiotic cream or in my case hydrogen peroxide spray works the best if you can stand a little pain. Aloe will help the color return to normal. Give a week for full recovery.

Hey from reading the two previous emails, I''''m concerned about fall off time and procudure process.

When I did mind I just barely touched the tip of the wart so I did not risk hitting the surrounding tissue. I know I did not hit anthing but the top half of the wart that is above the surface of my skin. (The two are about the size of a half a bb)

Anyone else got advice on how much to kill off. Should you try to press a little harder and kill a little surface area to insure you kill all the wart?

Can you go back the second day and reapply a burn off just for good measure?

I''m concerned I was not aggresive enough. I''ve never been to a professional for this so I''d love some advice on burn area from a professional.

BTW, the dirrections make it seem like you''re gonna lose your equipment if you try this, it was well worth it so far.

Thanks,
whatadeal

I wish I would of looked this up sooner. I''''ve been waiting to get my warts taken care of because I don''t have health insurance and all the medical sites I looked up said not to use over the counter wart removal products. So now I''m going to try some. Thanks for all your impute in the matter.

yes I did. I duct taped around it to protect the other tissue. I was real happy with how you could see the little wart freeze solid white. Those little bastards.

We''''ll see how it works. Mine was on the base of the shaft.
