I have the hpv strain that can cause cancer but I still feel kinda dirty. Are these feelings normal and will they ever go away. When I first was told
I know exactly what you're feeling and what you are going through! I found out about a month ago that I have hpv. I also have the different strains that can cause cancer. When I first found out I felt so awful. I cried my eyes out. First I felt very upset, then I was mad at myself, and the feelings just went back and forth. Believe me the feelings you are having right now are very normal. I used to feel like I was the only person in the world with this and I'm never going to be able to have a relationship with anyone. I have only been with a few people so I was so shocked that I had something. I started doing research on hpv and I've learned so much. You first need to tell yourself, yeah I have this, now I'm going to deal with it, and I am going to become a better person because this happened to me. And also, things could be worse. Atleast this is very treatable. I know you have the strain that can cause cancer but if you take care of yourself, go to the doctor every 6 months to a year to get a pap smear done, most likely you will not get cancer. You can still have a very normal, happy, and healthy life! Don't feel dirty, or yucky, cause you are not! I felt the same way. My first thought about me having it was I was a nasty person. But I've realized that I am not. I think now I'm a better person and very aware now of what's out there and that I'm not invincible. Everything will be ok! Just gotta keep your head up and keep a positive attitude! Start taking care of yourself. Take a mult-vitamin everyday like Centrum and also take Vitamin E. This is a wonderful vitamin because it works with your immune system to keep you healthy. My doctor said this might lower some risks of having an abnormal pap come back. So make sure you start those if you haven't, and also....if you're a smoker, please quit.
I hope this information helps you. If you would like please e-mail me. If you click on my name you can get my e-mail address. I would love to chat with you if you ever have any questions or concerns, or just need some one to talk to. I'm always here for ya.

And for as feeling yucky. don't. so many people have it. you did nothing wrong. there is a ton of info out there on genital warts. learning all you can will help you understand and accept. let me know if i can answer any questions for you...my email should be on file now..:-)

I also know how you feel, I was just told I had HPV after having a routine papsmear while I was pregnant. I've been married for two years and didn't know who to blaim. Although many of my questions have been answered I still can't help but wonder, I mean it's an STD anyway you look at it. I even have to wonder now if I contracted it before I was married, did I now pass it on to my husband who was a virgin when we married? I think once you realize you are still normal inside and out and stop trying to figure it all out then you will feel much better about youself.
