I'm 28 years old, have had a very active sex life and it's caught up to me through this virus. I'm damned lucky.
Anybody who's very young, or has just been diagnosed may find this a strange thing to say, but I'm lucky this is what I got, and not something that will kill me. If we're all going to be honest (and why shouldn't we, this is anonymous), we've all been scared since we started having sex of "WHAT COULD HAPPEN!!!" AIDS, Herpes, pregnancy, syphillis, Gonorhea.....you name it, you could have had it. I've been doing my research in this, and found this forum, reading other people's experiences, and gathering as much information as possible incredibly helpful. I feel like I'm armed to move on, and take the reprecussions of this as they come. And they will. I will have to tell someone that I'm interested in someday that I have HPV and if they have sex with me they will catch it. However, I have learned that having sex with someone will not necessarily make them love you. The best way to move towards love and a lasting commitment to someone is through honesty, sympathy, and understanding. This goes for the infected and uninfected alike.
So, if you think your life is over because you caught a virus from a guy/girl who probably didn't even know they had it, go ahead. Play the martyr. Me? I'm going continue researching this and bear in mind at all times that 75% of society has this virus, I was just lucky enough to find out I had it. Keep on movin' on....Good Luck to you

I just now am starting to agree, only after knowing I have it for two days. I am researching it and looking for treatment options, it consumes my life in that way, but not so much of feeling sorry for myself. It could be worse

Not to make false hopes for people but they're working on a vaccine as we speak. Only problem is that it's at least 3 years to get it through the various stages of FDA approval. Looks pormising though.
