i am a 19 year old male. my girlfriend is and has been on a birth controll called depo-pravara (not sure of spelling) and we have been having unprotected sex for about a year now, and about 2 or 3 weeks ago we noticed some very small lumps, but they kind of didnt even look like lumps, they looked like a long ovalish shape. they could have been mistaked for a small scar, which is what we tought they were since i have ripped her vagina during sex before. so thinking that they were just healing marks from rippage, we continued having sex, but these marks didnt seem to go away for a few weeks, so she went to get it checked out yesterday and was diagnosed with HPV. i am now scared, i remember reading somwhere that some people are ammune to HPV. i have not had any symptoms of this yet but i am hoping that some people can be ammune to it and i hope i am lucky enough to be one of these people. ethier way, i love my girlfriend and i plan on spending the rest of my life with her anyway. this may be a bad disease but it has done nothing but bring my girlfriend and i even closer than we already are. i love her so much!

Go to www.asha.com or www.asha.org to read about HPV. Also, go to your local library and read up on HPV. Men are basically carriers of HPV, their only inconvenience is possible warts. Women can develop cervical cancer if they don't stay current with their regular pap tests. I have HPV and no warts either, but that doesn't mean I won't get them down the road, it depends on how my body tackles the virus. You and your gf will both be fine, just educate yourselves.

Lumps
It's sorry to say, not everyone will be honest with their parnter. Regarless the length of there relationship, for example I was with my g/f for two years, and come to find out HPV is the least of my concerns. In a nut shell "don't be a fool, wrap your tool" is an understatement. I will be going to high school giving lectures about this type of tragdey. It's killing our future leaders, us! -Mike 20
