hpvfaq
Did your doctor tell you that you can get HPV from a toilet seat or is this an overreactive guess?
I think there are probably 100 dermatoligists and scientists that would disagree for every one that would say something like that.. I still don't believe the doc said something like that.
Maybe I've misread..

My doctor actually treated that couple that has been proven. In regards to the toilet seat he said anywhere your genitals may contact you can run a risk of developing this desease. He said nothing has been ruled out. There is still so much more that needs to be learned about this desease. The toilet seat cannot be ruled out yet.

not being able to rule out a possibility doesn't mean it happens. because nobody can 'prove' it, they cover their collectives asses and say its posible.

Hand warts are hpv, but they aren't the strain that you get on your genitals.Genital warts are found on the genitals, hence the name. There are over a hundred different types of hpv and many aren't the genital kind.I would be skeptical if you only hear it from 1 source.Personally my experience of the doctor I saw was that she was trying to scare me about having hpv. I did my own reserch.

What I've heard is that hand warts can transfer to genitals though THIS IS UNLIKELY. As for getting warts from toilet seats it is a possibility if you can get hand warts from pinball machines or wearing someone else's shoes. Let's not get hysterical about this though. We should take it to mean that some of us perhaps did not get it through sex.

As for the couple, well if someone with warts on their hands fondles your genitalia, I can imagine how the virus might be transferred. But if that is the case with this couple, then the HPV she has is not the regular 'genital' variety. But perhaps it is an unsual case and it doesn't mean we all got our genital warts from someone's hands!!!

Please do not misunderstand what I said in regards to the couple. I know not every wart on the hand is genital HPV. In the case of the couple his was genital type HPV on his hand and it was the same type she had on her cervix that was causing her dysplasia. My doctor type tested both of them. It appears now maybe I should of never said anything. Sorry!!!

Feel free to say anything. As you can see it did trigger off discussion as a lot of us would like to believe that our warts are just the hand wart strain and not an STD. Unfortunately the possibility of that is small : (

Doctors miss inform people about hpv, my doctor told me that it was just a hasal an could get warts at times. I asked if a condom would protect me an others, she said yes when in reality thaat wasnt true. I am trying to figure out how i can make people aware of hpv, if u have some ideas for me that would be great. Later this week i'm going to my old high school an talking about it. People need to know the truth, i wish i did...

I wouldn't be surprised if future research shows that hand warts can spread to genital warts or the opposite. I am currently fighting both with little success. What I'd like to know is why so many people have them yet so little has been done to find a remedy.

at this point does it matter how we all got this Virus. What ultimately matters is we take responsibity not topass it on to those that dont have it. I was told that passing it is only through direct genital to genital contact....or my 5 year old would have it. Being informed is better than being misinformed, and misinforming others is even worse. Gather information all over the web and in books and through your doctor or seek another opinion.
