do i still have this??

A couple years ago i was diagnosed with HPV ( the kind that cause abnormal cells on the cervix, not warts). i had the LEEP procedure done and had another pap smear 3 monthes later, 3 monthes after that, and 6 monthes after that. they were all clear so my doctor said that i could go back to yearly pap smears. my doc was really acting like it wasn't a big deal. she said hpv was the most common STD, atleast 50% of sexually active people will get it in their life, ect. she told me that while there was no cure, once the cells are removed the body usually rids itself of the virus. i was concerned about developing actual warts but she said that the chances of me getting them were very slim because i had the high risk type for cervical cancer. well since my pap smears came back normal, i thought that i just didn't have the virus anymore. now im hearing things like, the body can't get rid of it, once u have it it's there forever, ect. well now i have a boyfriend that i love more then anything. i had pretty much forgotten about my hpv since now im back on yearly pap smears. i guess what i really want to know is, even though the virus has not returned, can i give it to him?? and if i do what will his symptoms be?? will he get actual warts?? i feel so bad for not considering this before -=(

assuming your body didn't clear virus
100% & there ain't no way of knowing
4sure, you can pass it to your b/f
even if you r asymptomatic. good news
is high risk strains -16, -18, etc
rarely cause warts on either sex. bad
news is he might now b life-long
carrier and never know 4sure one way
or other. don't feel bad if there was
no intent to harm. lots of confusion
re: hpv and no blame 2 u 4 trusting dr.

i say stick to the advice that you
have been given by your Dr, which is
identical to what i have been told,
and stay away from getting confused by
advice on this website that is must i
remind everybody! opinions by everyday
people and not Medical Specialists on
HPV! live your life and consider
yourself virus free.

Must i highlight an interesting point!
Considering that 80% of people have
this virus (well in oz) i think it
would be a fair call to say that if
you get it again, its not because YOU
NEVER GOT RID OF THE VIRUS, but
because you once again came in contact
with someone with the virus? Does that
make sense to anyone?????
