seeker

I'm a male and I want my hpv tested, but doctors who seen it say my little itchy bumps aren't hpv. I don't care what they think, I want it typed so I know what I'm dealing with. And I know, HPV types often co-exist, but I still want to know as much as possible. What kind of professional does this kind of thing besides an OBGYN? I've been to 3 doctors and they all brush me off! I know the Canadian Health Care system isn't doing too good these days, but this is ridiculous!

I am in the same situation that you
are in. I also have tiny sometimes
itchy bumps on my penis. I have been
to 6 doctors, each giving me a
different opinion but none said it was
HPV. I finally went to a dermatologist
and cut a piece of skin off and did a
biopsy. He said that I was HPV
negative and that it was keratosis. I
think he was lying because I thought
biopsies don't test for HPV. I think I
got ripped off. Does anybody know more
info on penile biopsies?

I would think that it's possible to
take tissue from a 'bump' and test it
to see whether it is HPV+ or -. The
reason why they say you can't be tested
is because if you have no symptoms, the
tissue sample they happen to take may
not have HPV but other tissue samples
might. See HPV101 on this site.

yeah, yy is probably right... You're
lucky, it seems.

I'm not lucky - Seeker. I got
warts!!!

Ah, you meant the writer of this
thread...! OK well, all of us who got
genital warts aren't very lucky :(

Seeker I have been reading other posts
and noticed you mentioned that your
urethra was also itching. I have been
trying to find someone with the same
symptoms as mine and yours comes
close. Like I mentioned earlier, I
have tiny bumps on my penis and my
urethra also itches at times. I have
had no luck with any doctor. Have you?

10/27/2003 10:47:46 PM - seeker
yeah. I'm starting to resent the
medical establishment for their apathy.
The difference between so far is that I
know that the chick I had sex with
turned out to be HPV positive. I would
be surprised if you got ripped off but
you never know man, how much did it
cost?

I'm "seeking" the University of
Toronto's dermatology dept's help on
this... It may take a while but I'll
let you know whether I come up with
anything. BTW, do you have little bumps
in your mouth?

The office visit was about $80 and the
biopsy was $150. I just did another
visual in my mouth and don't see any
bumps other than what I hope are taste
buds on my tounge. But the bumps on my
penis are so small that you can't
really see them unless I stretch the
skin or get a hard on. Also it seems
as if there's little tears in the skin
on the underside of my penis which is
weird. Let me know what happens at the
dermatology. Good luck.

I saw an earlier post on something
called Tagamet. I read up on it and it
is many used for stomach ulcers but
doctors having been giving it to
children for serious common wart
infections. I read testimonials on
different sites where parents say they
saw good results from this. Anybody
trying this yet?

umm are u sure this si what it says
about that thingie u asked earlier
Sexually transmitted diseases comprise
the majority of diseases of the
penis. Squamous cell carcinomas of
the penis are relatively rare in the
United States but do account for about
1% of all cancers in men. Penile
biopsies are usually to rule out
precancerous or cancerous conditions.

The dermatologist I saw said he did
not know what those little tiny bumps
on my penis were. So he did a biopsy.
He said "the biosy will check for
cancer and warts". The results came
back and he said I was neg. for both.
He said "not to worry because it is
some kind of keratosis or something."
Like I said, I never heard of
keratosis on the penis and after
researching, I thought the only test
for hpv is the digene test.

11/3/2003 2:37:32 PM - Dean
But then again I read other posts on
here where guys had their penis
biopsied and they said when the
results came back that they were
positive for warts. So does anybody in
this world know if penile biopsies
tests for warts/hpv. Or lets say you
had a digene test done and it came up
positive for hpv. Take that same
sample that was tested on the digene
test and biopsy that sample. Would
that biopsy show positive for
warts/hpv?
