I have had a few potential new
partners and all have rejected me,
because of the HPV. I'm still in
treatment, so I wasn't totally
surprised but I did think more people
would know about HPV.

Sarah - That sucks. I'm just now
starting to date for the first time
post-HPV and not looking forward to the
disclosure. But I figure I can always
assure the guy that there are plenty of
other safe, fun things we can do--what
guy is going to say no to that! If they
rejected you, they weren't worth you.

I have heard that the chances of oral
warts occurring are very slim, and
only apply to certain strains of wart-
causing HPV. Anyone know which
strains? ALSO: I don't mean to sat it
never happens! Just that it is
supposedly rare. Please don't bash me
for saying this, I'm only passing
along what I have read/been told.

from what i understand is if you have
genital warts you can give someone oral
warts, but you cant give them oral
warts... if they have genital warts you
can get oral warts when you give them
head...

wait totally "misspoke" there. If you
have genital warts you cant give them
genital warts by giving them a blow job
if you dont have oral warts. You can
give them oral warts if they go down on
you....

I'm under the impression that you can
get oral warts from oral sex but it is
just rare. Still though, I wouldn't
take the chance, ain't worth it in the
least. It's bad enough to have genital
warts, oral warts would make things so
much more annoying.

You guys are too focused on warts.
Reminds me of when I used to always
wear a condom during sex and worry
about AIDS. Then I got HPV. So,
there is a variety of other nasty
things you can get from oral. If you
do it, use protection.

Dude, you can HSV I (herpes) from oral
sex. Yes, if you get cold sores (i.e.
oral herpes) you can give HSV to your
partner. And Yes, most everybody gets
cold sores!

A lot of what is being said here
really depends on one's
perspective...if you don't have casual
sex, and wait a long time in a
relationship before getting sexual, it
puts a different spin on things. If
you are having random oral sex, yes be
careful...wrap it all up.

You can get worse things than HPV
through oral. I am never going to give
a guy oral again without a condom...
Ask an STD expert and they will tell
you the horrible things that can happen.
