Unfortunately -I'm almost sure I have HPV.
Fortunately -I live in Canada and so with the subsidized healthcare thing going on, I don't have to go through the hassle of insurance claims, etc.
But I still want to know -how much do prescriptions cost? and how much have you guys been typically charged for your treatments? I know it definitely varies from case to case, but I just want to have a rough idea before I go to the local sexual health centre Monday.
Thanks in advance!

Since I have insurance, my prescription was only $20. Oh and that was for aldara. I don't think it's that bad. That's about how much I pay for birth control.

hey, thanks! $20 sounds great -how much would it be without insurance? and how much would chemical treatment or cryotherapy be?
I'm not sure how payment for prescription drugs works here in Canada -having happily never had a prescription since I was, like, 12- hopefully the pharmacy won't ask me to pay up front.

I belive Aldara w/o insurance is about $200/month! I also had mine frozen, I'm not sure exactly what form of freezing, and w/o insurance it was $200 for the first 2 warts and $200 for every 5 after that. MEGA SPENDY if you don't have insurance. This is because they classify it as "surgery". I am in the U.S.

Damn! I'm in Australia, to get cryo is about 50AU$ and you get about $30 of that back! Aldara is also about 150AU$ and thats for the larger packet with about 12 sachets in it. No insurance necessary! I can see how treatment would get very pricey for you guys in the US :(

If you are paying $200 for cryo, you're paying too much. Start shopping around. Shouldn't be more than $80

to the Australian -do you mean by "no insurance necessary", that your government pays for your Aldara prescriptions?
$200 sounds godawful.

Aussie replying here :) The government subsidises some prescriptions but not all. Aldara is not subsidised so you pay full price for it, then if you have private health insurance, you can get some money back. However, visits to doctors for cryo and such are all subsidised to a point for everyone, regardless of whether they have health insurance or not.

It's clear -- we all need to move to Canada.

Hi again!
Original poster, from Canada. So I waited an hour today at the STD Clinic and, after appropriate examinations and testing, the doctor confirmed my suspicions. I was worried, worried, WORRIED about having to charge hundreds of dollars to my Visa, but the great people at the clinic told me it was completely free! Testing, the medication they used (starts with a "P"), and even the cryotherapy that was recomended -was FREE as well.

I asked how much a prescription medicine would cost -doctor said $50CDN!
The REALLY surprising thing... ordinarily one has to submit a healthcard # before any medical appointment so the practice can bill the provincial government afterward. At this clinic, and I was told at other clinis within the province, I didn't even need to give them my #... they just treated me.
