Dumped because I have HPV

I will be 50 at the end of this month. After my divorce I met a wonderful man (I thought) who I dated for 2 1/2 years. He even asked me to marry him. I found out in January through an abnormal pap smear that I have HPV - mine caused mild dysplaysia. I was dumbfounded when my doctor told me as I've only had three sexual partners in my entire lifetime. She told me that I would never know who gave this to me as it could have been dormant for up to 20 years. I did the mature thing and told my "sweetheart and lover" hat I had HPV and genital warts -- mine were cerival. I did not accuse him and told him I was sorry to have exposed him to them as I never even knew I had them. Well, he dumped me cold turkey. I have gone through intense times of emotional distress. I think the thing that hurts the most is his self-righteous attitude -- his sexual past is certainly a lot more colorful than mine! Has anyone else lost the one they loved because of HPV/genital warts? I'm going through a lot of anger as I'm the one who has to see my doctor every six month because of the increased risk of cervical cancer. Where is he when I need him the most??

I highly doubt you have had this for 20
years my guess is you caught it from
your recent partner. Have you had clean
paps for years?or have you missed
yearly exams. If your doc is telling you
you have had this for 20 years time for
a new doc..sorry to hear about you loss
sounds like when the chips are down he
would have never been there for you
anyways better to find out now than
another 20 years down the road.

I've had normal pap smears up until the
one I had in January. Yes, I have
been suspecting it's him and one of my
girl friends says it doesn't make sense
since I've had a "clean record" up
until January . I agree, I'm thankful
I found out now about his "true
character." Just will take time to get
over him as I loved him deeply. Thank
you for your comments.

2 1/2 years and he bailed because of
warts? Sounds like a loser if you ask
me.

That's too bad, but he's not worth
your time anyway. He probably did give
it to you, and you should let him
know. You shouldn't be apologizing to
him, he should be apologizing to you.
Although with that, you shouldn't
forgive him for the way he is acting.

Thanks for your comments. I'm just
thankful for the great information I've
found on the web about HPV. I was
terrified in January when my doctor
told me I was to be scheduled for a
biopsy (colopsy). Biopsy screams the
word "cancer". My doctor seemed
reassuring saying this is good -- mild
dysplaysia and she only biospied two
warts on my cervic. I've read about
taking supplements to help my immune
system and am doing that. Him?? Well,
he lost a great gal!!

So what did the biposy find? Did you
have the hpv test to confirm HPV
sometimes abnomalities are caused by
something else especially if you are
older

The colopsy (biopsy) found two warts in
or near my cervix. Yes, I do have
genital warts cause by the virus HPV.

I trully understand what your going
through. I had recently broke up with
my boyfriend of 4 years and began
dating this guy I've known for two
years. I recently found out that I have
HPV. My new boyfriend and old boyfriend
both tested negative. My new boyfriend
left me in fear of getting it. He's
been with many girls and me only a few
but the two in the last five years and
never a problem until now!!!!

Correction to above entry- only a three
men

The guy that dumped you gave it to
you, no doubt. Just for future
reference, 70-90 percent of HPV cases
will be cleared by the body's own
immune system within 2 years. Be
glad you got rid of the disease
spreading jerk and if you are scared
that that will happen again in the
future, then don't tell anyone after
you have been wart-free for a year or
two.

Some men just suck! But not all men
are like that.
