All so new...

My boyfriend and I were having a rough time and took some time off. In that time he slept with another woman. But we decided to try to work things out. I had a horrible time with it because I thought he was the one. Then it occurred to me that perhaps this woman wasn't the first girl on the side. For the last two weeks I've worried and stressed over potentially being exposed to something. To top it off, I graduate in a couple months from college. Needless to say the stress levels are throught the roof and my immune system was definetly compromised. Recently I discovered bumps in around my vagina leading down to my anus. I test myself regulary because I constantly have irregular PAPs- however most women in my family do the same. In November of last year a nurse told me she "suspected" I may have HPV. Immediatly I was offended and demanded to be tested- not realizing there isn't exactly a test that diagnoses HPV. However I got a second opinion a couple weeks later, the begining of December, and my results were negative. Now, since my world has been turned upside down, I've noticed these bumps and I don't know what to do. I made an appointment with my doctor but I don't have insurance since I'm graduating and not yet in the real world... and I can't exactly ask my parents for money without explaining the reasoning. I guess I just wanted to hear what others have to say, others that have been here and have advice. I don't know if I have HPV or not. I'm not sure if I recently got it or I've had it. I'm not sure if I should point fingers at my boyfriend, my doctor who said I was negative for HPV or at myself. And if I do have HPV and perhaps I've had it because I obviously could have been asyptomatic for some time, how do I tell my boyfriend? The man that wants to marry me? Or rather the man I still want to marry!

I kind of relate to what you are going
through. I have had several pap smears
come back abnormal in the past 2 yrs.
The doctors told me at that time that
it wasnt something serious. In the
last 4 wks, I noticed that started
getting these bumps that look like
warts. I went to the doctors office
today and, she scrape one off with a
knife for testing. The doctor told me
that it could be hpv.I cant wait til I
get the results.

Just go to a clinic, and it should be
low cost if not free. Tell your
boyfriend in a sincere manner, and non
chelantly ask if he has been with
someone else besides the one you know
about. For the most part if you
suspect it, it is probably true, just
listen to your gut. Also look within
yourself to really know if you want to
be with a man like that.
