first, who says the vaccine will only be given to girls of 16-18. you must understand what fda approval means to a company, merck. if it is approval for all ages and genders, who says only girls are getting it. you go to your doctor and tell him hey i what the hpv vaccine, why wouldn't he give it to you...everyone is happy.

i believe this vaccine will help those already infected, but not if it is high risk at the cancer stage. it will provide a significant boost in antibodies, they said over 40x your bodies natural amount that is huge. so yes i believe there will be a theraputice effect (those already infected), thing is not much is study on this effect yet because it is not the main reason for the vaccine

MOM
I have read that the vaccine is effective in men as well! The have tested young girls who were not infected. They have not tested those who already are infected so to say it will not work on those infected is not based on research.

poster above...
that is what i have been saying all along...THEY HAVEN'T TESTED MUCH ON INFECTED PEOPLE ONLY UNINFECTED PEOPLE -- SO DON'T SAY IT WON'T WORK FOR THE INFECTED -- THIS WILL ONLY ENHANCE AN IMMUNE REPONSE, your body can beat HPV but ONLY if it KNOWS it is there, the VACCINE will illicit this response that is needed for infected people!

there are currently two vaccines in the process of being made. ONE is to prevent infection w/ certain strains of high risk hpv (but not all strains), the other, is for women already diagnosed with cervical cancer caused by hpv (since roughly 98-99% are)
