Is cancerous warts external or internal usually?

My doctor just said she thinks that I have HPV. I have had three flesh bumps on the outside of the vagina on the left. On the right I had two small round puple bumps. The purple ones are now much larger they have also flattended out and become crevis like and brownish. Does this mean cancer. I thought the cancer kind was only on the inside. I have had the bumps for about three years. A previous doctor just looked at them and said they looked like skin tags. I have been with the same partner for 13yrs. Can this incubate that long. Three years ago I had thyroid cancer and had part of my thyroid removed could this have lowered my imunity and cuased the hpv to appear? I don't go back for almost three weeks to have this biopsied. I am extremely concerned.

yes, you can have cancer on the
outside, it is called vulvar cancer
and i actually have it. mine looked
like normal warts but they werent
going away with 6 treatments so we got
them biopsied and it came back as
preinvasive cancer. it doesnt mean
that they are cancer, but they may
want to biopsy them since you have had
cancer in the past. having had
cancer, that can lower your immune
response and make you more suseptible
to getting more types of cancer...

cont fr above, including ones caused
by hpv. there are 4 diff. types of
cancer you can get from hpv, vaginal,
vulvar, anal, and cervical. cervical
is the most common but the others can
also be caused by hpv. there is an
indefinite period that hpv CAN
incubate, that doesnt mean it always
does, but it can. a lowered immune
response (such as having cancer) can
make a dormant infection arise. how
long have you had these warts? have
you ever had them treated? ...

the main cause for concern is the fact
htat they are changing. any wart,
anywhere on the body that starts
changing is usually a sign of
precancerous growth. let me reiterate
though, this doesnt mean you HAVE
cancer, just thats why they want to
biopsy. if you would like some more
first hand exp. with what you are
going thru i recommend visiting
http://www.geocities.com/gyngals/ it
is a support group of gals who are all
suffering from diff. gyn problems...

most of us have or have had cancer at
one point but it isnt just for cancer
gals. it is for anyone seeking help
and support, esp if you just need to
talk to someone who has been there b-
4. there are only about 3500 cases a
yr diagnosed of vulvar cancer and yet
we have 3 or 4 diff ladies who have it
on our site, so i find it comforting.
drop by if you like. =)

Don't too worry.....cancer is not the
final result of hpv infection
