I've read that if you've had more than 4 partners then its about 80% certain that you've been infected with HPV at some point. Only 1 to 5% of people infected (men or women) who get infected will have a symptom so I would say not to worry about it, more than likely neither one of you will know. I've also read that if you abstain from sex for about 8 months into a relationship its common that both of you will clear any current infection.

poster above...i think hpv is runs wild because of the lenth of time people have between partners. if people would slow down and allow more time to pass between partners the numbers would decrease, you need to give your immune system a chance to grab hold...THERE IS A IMMUNE RESPONSE however this is in your epidermas which is in the farthest region from your immune system making it difficult to recognize the infection

That is true if people were more cautious and slowed down more infections would be ciured and stop being spread.

I hate to say this but people will never quit having sex. Why don't we quit driving as well. Driving is one of the most dangerous things you can ever do in this world. You never hear people say hey you should quit driving. Most people drive slow and wear their seatbelts. Its the same way with sex. WHen it comes down to it. Life is all about choices.

we arent saying ppl should stop having sex, if that happened, our entire civilization would die off. what they are saying is ppl should slow down, get to actually know someone, try exhibiting some SELF CONTROL, instead of just humping away like wild creatures, maybe then, std's wouldnt spread so quickly and rapidly. we werent created to propogate with any member of the opposite sex, we were meant to have (in my opinion) ONE mate for life.

continued from above
its b/c ppl jump from partner to partner that disease keeps being spread. if you have only one mate in life, and they have only one mate (you), then there is no way for either of you to get an std is there? i know everyone makes mistakes, not everyone can stay a virgin, but just b/c you have made mistakes in your past, doesnt mean you have to continue making mistakes into the future.

you can feel along their inguinal ligaments to see if their lymph glands are swollen. that is usually an indicator of an active infection in the lower part of the body.

however, they can still transmit std's to you when they are not actively dealing with an infection
