first, you should always inform before you have sex since condoms do not protect completely against hpv, they do lower the likelyhood but hpv is passed thru skin to skin contact so any contact, even if it isnt intercourse can still pass the virus. hope this helps.

The fact is that you have hpv. If you don't select single, you will pass the hpv to your partner even using condoms,

please dont listen to the advice above. i am sure you were at least a little upset when your first partner lied to you, fact is if you know and you dont inform then you are lying to your future partners and relationships should be built on trust. you would want to be informed, give them the same courtesy. most of the time, it is guys saying "dont tell" b/c it doesnt usu. affect them, not saying thats always the case, but seems common.

You dont have symptoms so dont even stress about it. The longer you go between sex partners the less likely this junk spreads

I feel like most responses are leaning towards telling my new partners, and I am okay with that. To the person who said I have hpv, how do you know that? I would love to take a test to prove it either way, but afaik there is no definitive testing method out there. Regardless, what exactly do I tell people: a) i have hpv b) i most likely have hpv c) i have had unprotected sex with people with hpv and have never shown symptoms, but could have it myself

Hold up. You haven't had symptoms, so be thankful and assume your immune system kept you unaffected. Most people have it and don't know it. Suppose you tell someone who has it and doesn't know and they run away? Not fair to you - and you probably don't even have it. Take this as a learning experience and be SAFE. There are way worse things out there.

you can request an hpv dna test to tell if you have it. talk to your doctor about it. until you find out for sure, i would tell ppl that you have been exposed and that you MAY have it. the poster above is correct that your immune system may keep it from affecting you but you still carry it (if you have it) and can still pass it to others. it is important to inform, but i would check with your doctor to find out whether you have it or not. hope this helps

i have checked with walk-in clinic doctors SEVERAL times and they all say there is no test for hpv. i guess i'll go to my family doctor and ask her - what a fun convo that's going to be. let you all know how it turns out.

good luck! i hope you get good news. if your family doctor doesnt have it, a gynolcologist will. i dont think walk in clinics like planned parenthood offer anything specialized like dna testing, they are pretty much the quick and easy std test and free birth control. you need to see a real gyn to get accurate answers. i hope it goes well for ya.

the reason there is so much diff info is b/c drs dont know for sure. some ppl will constantly fight hpv, also there are cases where they find widows who havent had intercourse in yrs all of a sudden start showing hpv, meaning the virus had to be dormant for several yrs. this leads ppl to believe it is lifelong. then some ppl never have another problem with it, leading some to say that it ISNT lifelong. it may be that in some ppl it is, in others it isnt.

i agree with the above response, it took me 5 yrs to get my first wart, now im treating it, hopefully this will be the end and even though the virus is still in my body, maybe i wont have any more outbreaks, guess i will have to wait and see, wish me luck..
