My boy friends doctor said it could only be transmitted through skin on skin contact directly with the warts. So we abstained from sex, he told me when we first started dating, and always had a clothing barrier - but that wasn't enough. I never saw or touched any of his warts and we never had direct skin on skin contact. His doctor suggested this. Of course this was the stupidest thing ever, after about eight months I ended up with HPV. Continued below

I don't think his doctor meant to be misleading I just don't think he really did all the research. My doctor said you can get it from holding hands, and I know that isn't true and corrected her. I should have been more careful, but I trusted his doctor and I was stupid. Luckily, albeit annoying, upsetting, scary, and embarrassing, I'm in a good relationship and although I do not want HPV, I'm happy about my relationship. I don't trust what doctors say about HPV.

doctors are misinformed b/c the information is changing so rapidly regarding hpv that many of them dont have the time/ability to keep up with all the current info.your doctor may be telling what they learned the yr b4,but with hpv, one yr is a LONG time with data b/c it changes so quickly. dont be mad at dr's, just dont trust them to know EVERYTHING, i mean they are only human,do you know ANYONE who knows everything current about something so rapidly changing?

oh, I completely understand, but I do think I should have informed myself better so I could ask my doctor more questions. Like everyone else, they do the best they can.

poster above, it doesnt say you can clear it, it says they cant detect it. not being able to detect it doesnt mean it isnt there. medical community has found that one out way to many times.

hello...I said CAN...besides not being able to detect doesn't mean it IS there as well...gotta look at both sides buddy

i know you said CAN, i'm saying not detecting it doesnt mean that you HAVE cleared it. i know to look at both sides, and they tell me that drs arent really sure, even with all the research b/c they dont have sensitive enough tests to really tell AND there is still so much they DONT know about viruses. i'm saying since there is so much conflict about it, ppl shouldnt be saying "oh i dont have it anymore" dr's change their stories every year. you should ALWAYS inform

Of course they have sensitive enough testing....in fact tests are out there that are better than the HPV test but they are not available to the public. Mostly used in clinical trials in groups. So if you want to get involved in a HPV study you can get the more sensitive testing...they even tell you what exact strain you have as well.
