Aldara Side Effects-AldaraSucks - (7 ) comments.

I was diagnosed with HPV about six months ago and was perscribed Aldara by a doctor who obviously didn't know what she was doing. I am unscircumcised and the wart had appeared just beneath my glans, visible only when i pulled my foreskin back. The fact that it was almost permanently enclosed by skin made this an 'internal' infection and innapriopriate for Aldara treatment.

Needless to say, the side effects were horrible. I had lost a lot of skin and showed symptoms resembling herpes. I had gone to a different doctor who swiftly advised me to discontinue using Aldara, and reassured me that the skin would heal without scarring.

Well, this didn'tq uite happen. Although i am still unsure whether what ensued is scarring or a wart reoccurance, the result is that the skin on my glans did not heal properly and is ridged with what loosely resembles thin 'alligator skin'. I cannot get a qualified opinion whether this is simply scar tissue of HPV manifersting itself, nor does it seem to be going away. It has now been 6 months since this has happened and needless to say, it has ruined my ability to pursue normal relationships.

I broke up with my recent girlfriend because i was deathly afraid exposing her to this virus, but could not bring myself to tell her, being unsure myself of what exactly is wrong. Doctors are clueless and incompetent. Has anyone had similar experiences with Aldara? Please shed some light on this if possible...
