The LEEP procedure- - (4 ) comments.

I first found out I had HPV about 7 months ago, had a colposcopy, and it all came back saying it was very mild, like a CIN 1 or something. It was expected to clear my system and not get any worse. I went in 6 months later (just recently) for a followup papsmear and found it got worse and was now a CIN 2/3. I was sooo upset. Soooo upset. I ended up having to go through with the LEEP procedure, which is where they just go in a remove all the cells and just be done with it. I was showing a negative trend in my papsmears so it wasnt so much a good decision anymore to just sit around and hope my system clears it.
The LEEP procedure wasnt exactly the most exciting thing Ive ever dealt with but it wasnt the end of the world either. The worst part about the whole thing was the fact that I had to get a shot right in teh cervix! Ouch! After that, it was a piece of cake. Didnt feel anything. The funny part is that the nurse, when she made my appointment for the LEEP, had forgotten to tell me to take vicodin 6 hours before the procedure! So I went in there on nothing at all and had to go through with it with only the numbing of the shot! I think Im pretty brave if you ask me. hahahaha.
The LEEP thing is nothing to be afraid of though, if your doctor does mention this to you as an option. I find out later how it all went and have to go back in to make sure the cells really were indeed all taken care of--- so wish me luck.
The best part about the LEEP is that it is so FAST. Literally it took about 5 minutes after the numbing kicked in. In, out, and over with.

My best wishes go out to all people out there-- men and women alike. I hope they find a cure for all this stuff someday. No one deserves this kind of heartache. Its been a rough road but the road hasnt ended. Keep your chins up folks. :)
