I think it's likely that the majority of people have HPV. Likely, about a third show physical manifestations of it. This means it's probably always been a part of society. Just like Chicken Pocks or the Virus it is something most people spread in society. The only way to avoid it would be to test for it and this seems impossible. So - likely, unless a vaccine is created there will be no cure or prevention. That said, it's a minor inconvenience. It's just that society places such a huge social stigma on anything related to STD or genital related transmission of diseases because we have moral stigmas that come with our ideas of anything sexual that stem from a Judeo Christian influences which believes Sex is for procreation only and pleasure is an incentive. This is not to say that this reasoning is wrong or right. However, the short answer is it's not a big deal...do you feel guilty when you give someone Chicken Pox or the common cold? If you are unaware, use precaution.
