I was just diagnosed with HPV. I never had any sypmtoms. Never had any warts anywhere on my whole body that I'm aware of. Always had normal paps every year. From the time I was tested and then had a colposcopy done (approx. 1 mth) I had cleared. . I just want to give my opinion based on what I have learned from my personal experience and research. In other cases of the papaloma viruses which affects all mammals(all viruses have the same basic features) the virus will go dorment after your body has had time to create some antibodies. This does not mean it goes away and yes I believe you can spread it whenever you have an outbreak. Most strains do not cause visable warts. But I haven't found a way to see inside my vagina yet and they can be microscopic so it wouldn't help if I could. I work in animal health so I understand viruses. Any type of stress on your body can cause an outbreak whether you know about it or not. Condoms aren't 100% for any disease especially HPV. HPV can affect any part of your body but it is area specific. You need to have one of the STD sub types to transmit it to sexual organs. In other words a wart on your finger will not affect a womans cervix because it needs different conditions to survive. Not to say there isn't a possibility that sometime way down the road for it to happen since viruses mutate and can adapt to different enviroments over long periods of time. We all heard about the "swine flu" this is a virus that has done just that. HPV is definately something to be concerned about but not paranoid. Upwards of 50% of people have some strain of it. You should be taking precautions with any human contact especially sexual. Being positive I think of it as I have the flu. What would I do to not expose others unknowingly to it? I tell all my partners and let them decide. To me that is just normal common courtesy even more important since some strains can have major impacts on the rest of your life. I don't believe HPV gives you cancer in itsself, a lot of things have to come together like genetic predisposition, stress, overall general health etc. Plenty of people get cancer that has nothing to do with HPV. I'm not saying HPV doesn't increase your chances but it doesn't cause it. If you don't feel comfortable talking about HPV maybe you shouldn't be having sex. If someone throughout the chain had taken this attitude maybe I wouldn't be writing this, but they didn't. I just hope that because they didn't my experience and ideas will give the chance for someone else to make the choice I didn't have. Be safe, be smart and be informed!

12/13/2011 10:50:56 AM - thank you
thank you for the comments. Although I
do think you are incorrect about one
thing. HPV in women DOES cause cancer.
Yes stress and predisposition all
contribute, but specific strains of HPV
cause cervical cancer in women. So it is
important to get checked annually,
especially if you have had multiple
partners.

HPV when working in humans, activates
their own viral oncogenes E6 and E7,
therefor causing cancer.

I contacted Genital Herpes 5 years ago, leneard about some natural treatments and it Genital Wartsing worked. I changed my diet, cut out all the fast food, processed junk, starch and sugar etc. I ate all organic food with plenty of raw fruits and vegetables, but the most important thing I did was taking a supplement called OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT.
